@jrcl set the hotend temp to something like 50 degrees and it should come on when you reach 45

That's right, I could do the gcode conversion in python. I thought ' I'd have to send them from a Java plugin, but a simpe macro call would do.
I wouldn't care about layers or infill, since the ball(s) of a sand table just meanders around, carving pretty patterns.

I think you should update your firmware.

@jay_s_uk Thank you for your support. It was showing that our main board was not found for M997 command. Using the fall back procedure of USB update to the Duet3, led to the update and solution we were looking for.

@phaedrux I got it from the US distributer, I think in May this year. Anyway, I already bought another and set it up. Just thought you should know.

So after a few failed attempts ("Error: Failed to connect to DCS (A task was canceled.") upgrading/downgrading between 3.3 and 3.4b6 I finally got it to stick and now I see the menu directory! Hooray!

Hopefully this beta is stable enough to use.

@phaedrux Thanks Phaedrux, that made the behaviour clear to me. I was afraid that there was a bug or a unexpected behaviour in the firmware here. But this is logical behaviour from your point of view.

First of all, I had a typo in my initial post, it is 3.4.0beta6 not 3.3b6. (You guys are to fast. ) 🙂

I did not thought a lot about the update process to be honest. I just uploaded the needed files via the DWC, I used the firmware images I had already on my other printer with a mini5+ running 3.4.0beta6, that triggered that behaviour I believe now. The move from /sys to /firmware was something my "above shoulder ringbuffer" has dropped already. 🙂

You could configure the duet to allow FTP then just FTP all the contents back to your PC (Most FTP Packages allow a sync as well).
