@dc42 well, here's the odd thing. I read that link and thought I understood it. I was running 3.5rc1 on Github and it would always just move 1 axis and sit there.

Today, I saw you linked a newer RC1+ build. I installed that, went back to read the input shapping page and put in two movements and I got both movements.

So perhaps, i was hitting a bug in 3.5. Now things make a lot more sense - i thought i was missing a step or needed to click the play button that the second movement had next to it.

Now it complete more than 1 axis and it says motion profile #2 is complete.

Now its time for me to see the data and see what to do next 😉 may have more questions but at least this latest build unblocked me.

It is in my workshop and stripped of all the original control gear. I've planned what I intend to do, but not actioned it yet because I've had a few paid jobs bunch up.

The screen fits in the old holder with a few mods. I'll mount the Duet3 (doesn't have to be a 3, the motors are low current) on the removable flat panel undervthe machine. I'll likely need to print some cooling ducts to ensure the duet is happy, but other than that I think the biggest mystery will bevthe vslues if the thermistors. I have noticed that one company does upgrade hotends for the machine. That may be an expensive but reliable waybof doing it.

Regards bed.g versus mesh.g:

One of the reasons I suggest folks not depend on the RRF config tool is that it doesn't generate very good code.

It seems that the tool is behind the times and is not aware that G32 is not intended to be used for Mesh Bed Compensation.

Unless you intend to enable True Bed Leveling (either automatic or manual) bed.g should be empty or perhaps contain just a M291 command to put up a dialog stating that bed.g is mostly empty. 😁

Regards starting a print at the center of the bed:

You may recall that I set the X and Y axes min/max, via M208, to put 0,0 at the center of the bed. I have never had an issue getting prints to start in the center with any of the slicers I have (and I have most of them). You do have to tell the slicer (just one time) about your printer and the size of the bed and the location of 0,0.

Regards G28 in your config.g file:

NOT a good idea. You don't want any part of your printer to start moving or heating or anything just when you power it on.

After I power up my printers I manually home them just to get a sense that all is fine and there are no disturbing noises being made.

Glad to help when I can. Feel free to ask why I do or suggest something. I like my approach to these things but everyone is unique and has their own likes and dislikes.

Well i'm far from knowledgeable enough to make my own board, not to mention the firmware for it.

That said, if such a board was to be made i personally wouldn't have an issue with it being connected through CAN rather than wireless. The filter needs two wires ran to it anyways, so doing a CAN pair in the same loom wouldn't be a huge issue.

Being able to connect VOC sensor(s) to Duet3D boards would be a nice feature in general though, the SPG40 for instance 😅

@Aurimas I have my homing files such that homing X homes XYU, (same of homing U or Y). Because U homes off X, X must be homes before U can be homes in my setup. I added Y to the mix as well because there is a "safest place" to have the X and U heads positioned with their cabling and filament tubes for homing Y. So hitting home for any of X, U or Y will home X, then U, then Y in a predictable order.

@Kiolia Glad its working. In advantage of having them setup as mixing is you adjust the mixing ratios if needed to balance the extruders (unless they are truly identical and seeing identical loads)

@oliof There are linear hall sensors, but I don't know how sensitive they are. Passing a small magnet along the sensor would act like the rotary mag-sensors, but without the need of a motion translation.

Thank you both for your quick replies. I have had a look at it and I think I had misunderstood how it works with regard to being active/off and then selecting temperatures to actually make it start to heat the hot end. I have played around with the config file and it works as you describe by commenting out the T0. I initially thought you were talking about in the heater definitions, but I found it at the end of the config file.

@damaged_goods There's a few options of 'basting spray for quilting' on Amazon, but I can't find any info on what adhesive is actually being used. If you have a can, please can you show the ingredients on the back? Also, what filament types have you found it works for; PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA... etc?

If I vary:

4 rpm are slower than 1 rpm, 8 rpm are faster than 10! and the variations are continued at higher speeds.

I tried a brand new second engine shield v2. I have tried another stepper motor.

I can't explain it at all, but it's business-critical.

I just connected version 1 of the motor shield board and that's fine!

@gloomyandy thanks. The reason is almost certainly insufficient RAM and flash memory on Duet 2. The MQTT support requires significant amounts of both.
