We've had a small number of instances of DueX2/DueX5 boards on which a connection between the I/O expander chip and the PCB is intermittent. I suspect that's what's happening in your case, so please ask for the DueX5 to be replaced. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this is causing you.

Yes that 10K resistor is fine. Or you can leave it out, but then the firmware won't tell you if you get another VSSA short.

Unplug the thermistor connector from the Duet, poke wires into the holes at the end of the socket, and measure the resistance between them. You should read about 100K at room temperature. Also check that your meter reads infinite resistance between each thermistor lead and the hot end metalwork.

Enough to allow a reasonable airflow between the two boards. I suggest at least 5mm.

Now that is seriously weird… I haven't touched my printer in ages. Fired it up today, all seemed fine, then when I fired up the bed heater and hotend at the same time, the whole system turned off. I power-cycled everything, tried to turn on the bed heater (okay so far...) then the hotend, same result. Except this time, the duet wifi wouldn't turn on again and my externally powered fan kept running. The terminal block for power in just melted on the negative terminal. Duet owners, tighten your terminal blocks, even if your printer worked fine previously. I guess the terminals can loosen over time?

Thanks David for your reply! It is just one fan which will run at 5V. I am using 24V power supply and NO 5V external supply.

wired and working, just cut connector end wire off and plugged in on end.

The Z motor connectors are wires in series, so I suggest 1 to 1.2A.

Sadly different stepper motor manufacturers use different pinouts.

It may be worth editing the wording in the power wiring and PSU choosing sections of the documentation to make it clear it can tolerate the range.

Well… I had no luck calibrating the printer properly. That is, until during bed mesh generation the nozzle crashed into the bed and DWC said that the probe was not triggered during a probing move, which led to the realization that the wiring was loose and the probe would lose power randomly during movements. I fixed the wiring and ran a 6-factor auto-calibration and it appears I'm currently getting decent accuracy at least on the XY-plane.

A 2mm pitch leadscrew sounds good to me. My SCARA printer has one for the Z axis and it manages 1000mm/min Z speed easily. It would probably do more if I increased the motor current.

Bot you have a point about duplicate content and about keeping stuff up to date. We can see how we get on, currently because CaLviNx has linked to the wiki it should be ok i think.

I have kapton tape, about 5 layers, on the back of it. I also wrapped my heat block with the tape. It would take a lot to hit it, so no protection there.
