Replacement Magnets for BuildTak FlexPlate?
-
Hi, does anyone know of suitable replacement magnets for the BuildTak FlexPlate system?
I had to remove it from my old bed as it was warped and I'm replacing it with a machined plate. Unfortunately when removing the adhesive from it a few of the magnets were broken. They are jumpy little buggers lol.
I've already reached out to BuildTak, but they are unwilling to sell me replacement magnets or even a replacement magnetic base and I'm not gonna spend another £150 on a full kit when all I need is 4 magnets.
Thanks.

I use a magnetic sheet on my bed with a flex plate.

It started out as a temporary solution, but it's been working well and fairly cheap so it's still in place and I've never got round to adding proper magnets -
I've been using a high temp magnetic sheet from https://subtle.design/ which has been working quite well on my corexy. I've had it up to 120C and there is no sign of loss of magnetism. They call it the Staymag

@kingfisher @JamesM it will probably be fine if I strategically place the missing magnets, but yeah I am considering switching to something like this.
I've also found this https://www.ziflex3d.com/ they offer a high temp and low temp version with low temp being slightly cheaper. The high temp is a similar price to the Staymag but also includes a print surface and would get to the UK much quicker
If I can use my steel flex plates from the BuildTak with these then even better.
I know these things aren't design to be removed and reused but I just find it infuriating that I've paid a heft sum for this system and I can't even get 4 small magnets.

Well I had an offer from BuildTak.
They categorically wont sell me replacement magnets. However after initially saying no, they did offer to sell me a new magnetic base plate for more than the cost of the entire FlexPlate System (where you get the base plate, the spring steel sheet and a sheet of BuildTak.
I'll be moving to a new system I think, gonna give Ziflex a go.

what size are they? I got some "prusa" sized magnets from AliExpress, they seemed to hold their strength even after being held at 110C for a good two hours. Unfortunately it was a subjective test not backed by measurements. Not super cheap, but at least they worked. LxWxH 20-ish x 6-ish x 3-ish all in millimeters, can see if I can find a link if it helps

@bearer they are 12x6x1mm definitely not a common size for high temperature magnets.
-
Hm, no, but I've bookmarked a few vendors who had some odd sizes. I'll see if I can't get through them tonight.

@bearer thanks

Guys magnets do 10x5x1 with adhesive backs.
They might work -
