Duet 3 Mainboard 6HC - initial production run.
-
@gtj0 yes that should work fine but i have not tested.
-
As the SBC and Duet will be powered from different 3.3V supplies, I recommend you use a resistor in series with the connection from the SBC. AFAIR the pullup on the Duet is 10K, so a 470R resistor should do.
-
@dc42 Good point, thanks.
-
Another power question: Should the "SBC -> 5V" power option be working? With only that jumper installed, the Duet3 won't power up using 5V on pins 2 and 4 of the 26 pin connector. I've verified that the voltage is there and if i connect pins 4 and 6 on the SBC to the 5V and GND pins on the ATX header things work fine (with no jumpers).
-
this is what tony
saidtold me earlier: (not sure if changed since)you need both fitted this is the schematic. Its actually that the protection is between the 5V_INT and 5V_EXT circuits, the 5V_EXT to the 5V_SBC is just a jumper that connects those two rails. What really should happen is the "SBC->5V*" jumper is fitted and the 5V_EN jumper is removed...
-
@bearer Ah thanks. I must have missed that.

Any news on the ToolBoard?
Would love to test it with my new printer and Hemera -
@Selecta_Mota I expect we will announce the production pre order before Christmas for shipping either end of Jan or beginning of Feb.
-
@T3P3Tony and now I'm going to have to order one of those too
-
@T3P3Tony great to hear, thank you

@T3P3Tony So Duet 3 is out. when is the expansion board coming out for the external stepper drivers? As I understand 3HC board still doesn't support external stepper drivers and/or servos.
It sounds a bit one step forward two steps back with a loss of the external stepper driver support. -

(pre order is open)

@CaLviNx I think the key words in @Aurimas post were "external stepper drivers".
-
We finalised the tool board design and ordered the PCBs last Friday. We're now working on the single-external-stepper board, which is very simple because it is essentially a cut-down tool board. We are aiming to order the PCBs for them in time to get them before Chinese new year (25 January). We have already tested prototypes made from hacked prototype tool boards.

Yes I know what he meant. You of all people should well understand that is not the main priority/direction that the duet 3 appears to be travelling at this point in time, but as I already said all info has already been stated, one step at a time

@dc42 any news on the toolboard?
or are you also affected by corona? -
We're not affected by Corona yet. Tool boards are in production and should be listed very soon. Tool distribution boards will follow shortly.
-
@dc42 Do I need the distribution board if I`m going to use only one Tool Board?
Does the toolboard include wire terminals for the CAN bus (+ the other not using screw terminals) wires between the ToolBoard and the Duet 3? -

Does the toolboard include wire terminals for the CAN bus (+ the other not using screw terminals) wires between the ToolBoard and the Duet 3?The distribution board is optional. It provides a convenient way of providing individually fused power to up to 4 tool boards, converting the CAN cable from RJ11 to JST ZH (because RJ11 was too big to fit on the tool board), and terminating the CAN cable. Without it, you should provide your own power fuse (e.g. an in-line auto fuse) and terminate the CAN bus with a 120 ohm resistor unless the bus goes on to an expansion board.

Any price info on the distribution board?
I may order ToolBoard + distribution board - so I`m ready for more projects in the future
