I'm not sure if the firmware would be able to look far enough ahead while also calculating the time needed for all the moves. If it's possible on firmware that would certainly be delightful.

I don’t have any direct experience with an Ender 3 and I gave up on Marlin a long time ago but it sounds like a combination of things. @Phil-Maddox is probably right in the post above about flashing the wrong firmware.

I would also bet the BLtouch became disconnected somehow. I would check the wiring to make sure it is all sound. Does it light up at all?

The major dimension of your square nozzle is ~0.56mm (diagonal). My interest is can you get the quality of a smaller round nozzle, but using a larger surface area and hence lower force, square nozzle.

I will print some more traditional parts this weekend. I see what you're saying now. I will try it with the part pointed "forward" and at 45*. I settled on going side to side because of the ideas presented in the original post, but I think you are onto something here.

I could also make another one at .40mm for the major dim, but that seems counterproductive. A squircle would also be possible.

lol, I hadn't considered it would be ringing from the extruder. Based on my jerk/accel settings I'm still inclined to believe it's from the XY. It's throwing a Hemera around without much regard for anything at the moment.

Its an axis like any other, and steppers act like a spring-mass. I see no reason why we shouldn't be thinking about the things discussed here:

For the extruder as well.
My hypothesis being that the square nozzle, requiring less force, generates less slip in the motor and so what looks like ringing being eliminated is actually cogging of the extruder motor as it accelerates the filament (less load, less cogging).

This explanation makes a lot more sense to me now. It's definitely changed the way I'm thinking about this.

it exist, device plugs into SD card slot and has one sd card slot and one usb host port for a usb flash or even 2 sd card slots, usb client port where you connect a computer that control the switch.. it's rather expensive and used for development, does not really makes sense for your purpose

Oh I agree that its much more efficient to have a well insulated enclosure... but running a 150C+ enclosure is not simple, its non-trivial in both engineering and IP. A hot air jet at the nozzle might be just enough that you can print small objects.
Its going to heat your workshop up though!

And I've printed PEEK, its more difficult than Ultem1000 which is already a real pain. Building a machine to do either is... not simple.

And unless PEEK has changed recently, that video is Ultem (PEEK is opaque, the polymer in the video is translucent).

I keep seeing companies promote machines that can print in Ultem and PEEK, and I'm still sceptical that any of them can do it well or reliably.

Besides, once someone builds a machine that can reliably print in PEEK and Ultem, people will start asking about Extem.

Interesting points about 1.75mm vs 3mm.

Originally plan was to use 3mm for some experimental printing, because it seems cheaper nowadays.
But building my own extruder isn't worth it, been there with a 1:5 belted extruder for my diamond hotend, but the bondtech extruder work more reliable.

i had "single extrusion walls" in S3D and and "fill gaps in shells" enabled in IM . thats why the corners were "complicated".
i'll test again both slicers without those settings tomorrow .

I see that you don't use a water-cooled hotend, but I guess the air is blown from the outside. Am I right? Does it work fine?
