@cabal2000 I have recently put a spring loaded version of the indirect monitor housing on thingiverse (3717158). It seems to work well, especially recording total filament use very accurately.

The wiznet chip should not be hot. I suggest you contact your supplier for a possible warranty repair/replacement.

I'm getting the too much movement when enabled.

I found it!

I turns out that the wire bundle connected to the print head was too short to get to the end of the x-axis travel. So just at the very end of the "priming stripe" (at 210mm out of 215 total travel) the belt would skip a tooth or two. Since it wasn't a problem with the actual kinematics of the machine, the prints came out great... till I paused and went all the way back to X0, where I'd get the matching slip on the other end. Perfect prints, but the virtual geometry didn't match the physical geometry after the priming stripe.

Totally my bad. But this is going to get added to my "wiring change checklist" so that next time I change a heater or a thermistor and take of the cable ties...I'll check that I still have full travel when I do the final tighten on my strain relief.

Extending the distance has helped me narrow down the speed range, but you will have to mess with that number a little bit too. I am only guessing, but depending on how long the set measured range is, if too long, may keep the printer running for that distance and not actually extrude. I think mine is currently set to 6mm.

You could do that if you connect a microswitch to the laser filament monitor, that detects absence of filament. the laser filament monitor has a 2-pin connector for this switch.

To do that would require substantial changes, both to the firmware and to your GCode sender. The problem is, when the firmware detects a filament problem (or any other situation that demands a rapid pause), it needs to discard all the moves is its pipeline, because they are not going to print properly. Then when the print is resumed, it needs to start executing moves from where it left off. When printing from SD card it can do this, because each move in the pipeline is tagged with the location in the SD card file that it came from. But when accepting streamed GCodes, there is no file address. I guess you could send all GCodes with line numbers, but then the firmware would need a means to send back the line number of the first GCode that was not executed, so that the GCode sender could restart from there.

What is your objection to printing from SD card?
