So i tought my board stopped connecting because of that but obviously must have some other prob.

@dc42 we investigated a little in the direction you pointed us and solved the problem. It wasn't reporting alerts on position errors, now it does and we can handle them and do what we need when it happens.

Motor current is set by the M906 command, normally in config.g.

@highfreq best off buying a 5v PSU and powering into the GPIO pins or soldering to the back of the board.
Make sure whatever PSU you get can output 5.2v

@dc42 so do you think i can put my controller in CL by emulating quadrature so that board knows where axis is at any time? By the manual can you understand if the quadrature emulation would be ok for 1HCL board?

We will use that controller that is in closed loop on a linear motor. Do you think we will have any problem driving it with standard step or loose any of the linear motor precision?

I do not believe that the Duet ecosystem has a way to control the system through a step and direction INPUT (commanded position).

it does have a way to generate step and direction OUTPUT signals to an external motor-control driver board.

I thought you were asking about commanding a Duet board through EtherCat (and others) so I assumed you meant you wanted to also control the Duet board by sending step and direction commands to the board.

I'm sorry for my misunderstanding.

Maybe if you could ask your question in a little more precise way you'll get a different answer.

If you compute axis compensation in start.g, this is for the whole print - which makes sense. If you want, however, monitor the chamber's temperature all the time (and adjust the compensation accordingly), put your code in daemon.g where it will be called every 10 seconds. Personally, I think the latter approach is questionable, as you counter one "global" variable (the axis elongation) which affects the whole print with a measure which affects single layers - that's difficult to balance properly. Better you keep the conditions stable during a print.
