Artifact Line Possibly Related To Layer Time?
-
Bed expansion having more time on that long layer to increase?
-
@phaedrux printer was preheated/heatsoaked for 2 hours before printing. most of the thermal expansion is done by then
-
@turbo do you get a similar artefact when you print a simple cube or cylinder?
-
@turbo
there's another sharp line at half the height. But it has no effect on the print. Do you use 'solid infill every n layers'?
Find out, what's the difference between the two layers.
My guess is, your slicer uses different speed (at same filament temp) or extrusion width.Do you use 'taper off' option for mesh bed compensation and it's set to 5mm?
-
@dc42 No its only related to this bed, although similar artifacts can be predicted by the layer time visualizer, and 9/10 times it shows exactly where the line wil be
-
@o_lampe not using solid infill at _ layers. difference between the two layes is about 2-2.5mm, but artifacting doesnt show on the lower one. taper off is not in use due to use of klipper
-
@turbo what are the layer times at that artefact and immediately before and after it?
With so many items on the bed, I would have thought that at that height the layer time would always be long enough for the extruded plastic to fully set before the next layer is printed.
-
-
@turbo so it's jumping from about 16 to about 19 minutes and then down to about 14.
Can you tell from watching the print whether the speed is the same for those layers?
Another possibly cause of that artefact is that the direction of printing that perimeter has changed from clockwise to anticlockwise or vice versa.

@dc42 i can tell theres a layer time difference, due to that layer being the top surface for some other objects on the plate. perimeter print direction stays consistent though.
