Replacement ball studs - reseller?
-
Hi all,
I'm using the Haydn Huntley arms on a smart effector with the mounting system bought via the Duet3D store several years ago. Recently I've noticed something bad has apparently happened. A ring of black gunk appeared on the chrome balls, and when I removed and cleaned the joints, I could see that somehow the chrome (?) plating of the balls has been abraded to a significant portion.
Long story short - I need new replacements (2x sets of 6 https://www.duet3d.com/DuetAddons/BallStudEnds), but I have a hard time finding a reseller in Europe, if possible Germany. Does anyone know of a reseller that has these items in stock?
(Also - will I have to replace the rods as well? I hope not....)
Thanks

Hallo Volker,
If you also see a spot on the magnet, your Delrin sleeves are bad. I'm located in 'Kassel' and I have a few parts (mags, sleeves, balls) laying around, so you could build your own rods. But equal length is very important. I made a rig, but it wasn't perfect.Alles weitere dann gern per PM

Here are some images from the effector side (after cleaning the lubricant and black gunk):
and the carriage side:
The other rods look similar.

Perhaps you should get in touch with Haydn and ask him for advice? https://www.magballarms.com/

Here a bunch of spanish guys are using this ptfe tape on our hayden´s arms.

@apak Do you have any experience with using UHMW PE tape instead of teflon?

@vwegert I found them here, sorry for the delay.

The magnets seem to be nickel plated and the ballstuds are chrome plated. Easy to see where's more wear.
The tape solution seems the best workaround. (maybe punch a hole in the center of the tape to avoid contact to the magnet?)
