Questions about Duet 3 Mini 5+ wiring.
-
I bought a Mini 5+ and have a few things I could use some clarification on.
-
I'm swapping the motherboard on a CR-10s Pro V2. From what I can tell the bed heater is 24V @ 220 watts. Should I just connect it straight to Out_0 on the duet?
-
I was planning on running the duet in SBC mode to a Pi 3B+ and would also like to drive some Neopixel LEDs... Should I just power the Pi like I normally would? How should the 5V jumpers be set up? Is it worth getting a cheap Meanwell 5V PSU to send power to both the Duet and the Pi in parallel? It looks like there are a few options so I guess what I'm asking is "What is the optimal method and how do you do it?"
Thank you all in advance for your help!

The bed heater output mosfet can handle up to 18 amps, and your bed is only ~9. So it should be fine direct connect to out0.
The optimal method is going to depend on the situation. Ideally though the Pi and Duet should be powered by their own supply (or a dedicated 5v supply that has enough power to meet the needs of both.) Powering the pi from the Duet or vice versa may work in some basic configurations, but runs the risk of over drawing the supply device.
In the case of a 3b+ you have more leeway than you would with a Pi4. So if you wanted to power the pi from the Duet you'd be probably be able to without issue as long as your USB peripherals on the Pi aren't drawing too much.

I was under the impression that the Mini couldn't power the RPi like the 6HC could. Only the other way around.
Are there any problems/concerns with powering the Duet and the RPi from a 5V PSU? Is that overkill? Although with the addition of a bunch of Neopixels it might be necessary.

That is correct.

My mistake!

Nothing wrong with that at all. In fact it allows you to use a relay to control the main PSU on and off.
