Danal's passing

So sad. I particularly appreciate DuetLapse, and Danal was so helpful to so many people.
-
I was shocked by hearing that. I remember Danal as being very helpful and polite.
Such sudden events remember me that we are all mortal and how important it is to "carpe diem".
-
I am saddened by the news. While I had limited direct interaction with Danal, his posts were always insightful and his projects an inspiration. He will certainly be missed in all the communities he participated in.
-
We will all miss his input and help but is there any way that his work on DuetLapse and the Python stuff he did get preserved with the Duet systems.
It would be a sacrilege if that was lost to everyone as some of his accounts are likely to get closed down in time.
Doug
I have forked DuetLapse. DuetPython and TAMV to the Duet3D account. I am not sure low long github keeps accounts that become inactive up - I imagine a long time.

Thanks Tony I suspect you may be right but better of not taking that Chance.

So sorry to hear this. He was an extremely helpful chap. My sympathies go out to his family and friends.

Danal's passion to contribute to the Duet community will be sorely missed
RIP Danal -
Shocked to hear this. Very sad.
-
Condolences to the his family and to the Duet3d family...very sad news!
-
Oh my. I just saw this. It is indeed a great loss. I have also forked DuetLapse, DuetWebApi, DuetPython, PythonDSF and DuetVersions and will endeavor to support the contributions he's made to the community as I am able.
-
This is so sad. Danal has helped me many times and anyone can see he made a huge impact on this community. He will be missed.

A close friend of mine passed away last December. He was a brilliant technologies with 100+ patents on his name and a home office full of machines and contraptions. It was interesting to watch how all of that valuable equipment has little value to the loving family left behind and the burden of disposing them. It's then that I realized that it's the person that gives the value to those machines, including our 3d contraption. From my brief interaction with Danal here, I believe that he gave value for a lot of things in his life and in multiple disciplines of technology and I respect it.
-
A sudden and early parting is the worst and I hope that Danal's values will carry forward in the communities and individuals he helped so much.
Does anyone know an address to send a print out of this thread to? It was a little joy to my Aunt to receive reminders of the people my Uncle influenced and helped. And how they planned to carry the things he cared about on.

@Baenwort No, but the link in the original post allows you to leave a message.

Just seeing this now. Couldn't have said it better than @poofjunior did. He helped me with a whole bunch of seemingly random parts of bigger projects since 2+ years ago, great guy, I don't have the words.

It’s sad news , RIP .

His presence on the forum and on the Jubilee Discord will be sorely missed. I interacted with Danal frequently on the Discord server, and he always brought a refreshing air to whatever he discussed. A truly wholesome and happy person who was an example in how to share knowledge and make the world a better place.
Rest in peace Danal.

that's heartbreaking. I hardly ever interacted with him but I totally benefited from his contributions here.
Rip you absolute legend

Danal helped and encouraged me when I was a new user of Duet and the Duet 3 board and was dealing with various frustrations. His calm tone reminded me of a personal policy that I had overlooked which is during times of frustration it's good to back off and cool off.
I had wanted to at some point inquire into Danal's aviation interests since I had built and flown a composite homebuilt airplane for 10 years but didn't get the chance. Seeing many of his posts on this forum and the Jubilee discord it's easy to see Danal was a people person willing to help and share. Goodbye kindred spirit.
