Duet2 WiFi : No WiFi without SD Card

@OP I strongly suspect (based on the edge of the photos you posted that appear to show a 40 pin connector) that you are attempting to flash integrated firmware ("PanelDue-5.0i-7.0i.bin") to a non-integrated PanelDue setup. As David said, The correct firmware for a nonintegrated setup that is https://github.com/dc42/PanelDueFirmware/releases/download/1.22.1/PanelDue-v3-7.0.bin.

@phaedrux
For the replacement DuetDue 7i I just received, the version is: 1.21.3(13b1).
For the original DuetDue 7i, the build version is: 1.22.1(28b1) - this was the one I had uploaded the new firmware to (per the previous link that was sent in this post). No need to post a photo, the 2 LCDs and driver boards are identical.
What is the difference between the the "integrated" and and "non-integrated" that I'm reading above?
Maybe you mean the LCD is part of the Duet2 WiFi (i.e. connected directly to the Duet2 WiFi without cables) when you state "integrated"? -
@elmoret What is the difference betwen "integrated" and "non-integrated"?
I purchased OEM Duet2 WiFi and PanelDue 7i, not a knockoff Chinese junk one or such if that is what non-integrated means. Still, I'll try you version of the bin file now. -
Please post a clear, well lit photo of your PanelDue. Spool3D does not appear to sell the PanelDue7i.
-
@elmoret
It looks like they ran out of the 7i model. To soothe your doubts...
My original order:
The replacements parts that I just recieved:
The 2 PanelDue 7i's I'm trying to get better than 8-bit colors out of (the bottom one is lower on my desk - so looks smaller) and is the one I just received:Feel free to post any further doubts you may have.
-
None of those photos or screenshots show a PanelDue7i.
My suspicions were correct, you have a non-integrated setup (a PanelDue and a 7" LCD, two separate boards) and as such, have been loading the wrong firmware.
I do not believe the boards are at fault here, unfortunate for Spool3D as they likely incurred costs when the boards were not defective.
-
Integrated means that the LCD and the PCB are integrated together. The non-integrated version has the PCB connect to the LCD via a 40 pin connector, that's all.
So try flashing this firmware: https://github.com/dc42/PanelDueFirmware/releases/download/1.23.2/PanelDue-v3-7.0-nologo.bin
-
@elmoret The boards have come out of box with the 8-bit colors. Notice I did not upload a bin for the new one?
I also now suspect the boards are not at fault, but the Duet2 WiFi may be.
I only even got a replacement because I was told previously in this thread, the LCD may be defective.
If you review this thread you will see for yourself. -
@phaedrux Thanks. That is helpful to know why some people call the 7i and other do not. Now I know the terminology that you typically can't find via Google about these boards.
So yes, my setup is a PanelDue 7.
-
There's a bit more information on the PanelDue here
https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/PanelDue
and here
https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Connecting_an_LCD_control_panelIf you flash the bin I linked above and it's still having color issues we can work from there.
-
The standard file for that display/board combo is https://github.com/dc42/PanelDueFirmware/releases/download/1.23.2/PanelDue-v3-7.0.bin. But you can also use the version without splash screen that @Phaedrux linked to.

@dennishall said in Duet2 WiFi : No WiFi without SD Card:

If you review this thread you will see for yourself.People only arrived at that conclusion because you repeatedly stated that you had a PanelDue 7i.
As for how they came out of the box, sounds like someone in the supply chain (perhaps Spool3D) is flashing incorrect firmware. But that's fixable without replacement hardware, of course.
Why do you suspect the Duet 2 Wifi is defective?
-
My guess is that the PanelDue controller board has the 5" firmware on it, which is how they are programmed during manufacture. Running 5" firmware on a 7" panel gives incorrect colours.
-
@elmoret Thanks fo rthe model type clarification.
All good now. That no-logo bin file took care of it.
I only suspected the Duet2 WiFi starting today when the replacement LCD had the same result out-of-box.I just got off the phone with Darek at Spool3D. They don't flash the hardware, seems Duet shipped with V1.21.1. Darek also says they have 5 more 7 inch LCD's still in stock and will update their site stock.
Anyhow, all good now.
Sorry if I got testy with anyone, that's me getting a bit stressed. Terminologies are not always consistent between Chineze clones and "real" hardware
I love the Dark 2 colors scheme on the LCD with the 1.22.1 firmware build.
-
@dc42 Sorry if my photos in this thread did not show the controller board separate from the LCD.
The issue was my lack of knowledge of the model type between my 7 and a 7i.The no-logo bin file took care of business and Spool3D also now knows they are receiving their PanelDue models with the 1.21.1 firmware.
-
@phaedrux Thanks man! That was the right bin file for (what I now know is a PanelDue 7)
Your summary made it obvious.Really appreciated.
