Here is a new web interface problem that I am proud ot share. This appeared on the 4th Duet Maestro that I bought,. second one on the same machine BTW.
This little gem occured when I tried to adjust the hot end temperature tonight. Not during mid print, but rather as a tuning operatoion. Also it seems that my printer does not want to go above 0 on the z I suspect that i have some sort of firmware limit set.
Any ideas about this error message and the z height issue? The unit will lift Z between layers so there is the actual functionality there.

Which firmware version are you running? The DWC version is 1.22.1 so I am guessing that it's not current. Please upgrade to the 2.02a firmware bundle from https://github.com/dc42/RepRapFirmware/releases.
-
I will do that, but it seems that I have to have my printer connected first in order to upload the firmware. I know that everyone that uses the duet disagrees, but isn't there some other perhaps easier of more intuitive way to execute the process? Also it seems that the instructions may need updating: The following procedures do not apply to maestro either correct?
Note, this does not apply to the Duet 2 Ethernet.Updating WiFi firmware
Upload the new DuetWiFiServer.bin file to the /sys folder on the on-board SD card, either via the Settings page of DuetWebControl (if WiFi is working), or by temporarily moving the on-board SD card to a PC. If you copy it directly to the SD card on a PC, you must remove the version number from the filename so that its name on the SD card is exactly DuetWiFiServer.bin. If you upload it through the Settings page of DuetWebControl, the renaming will be done automatically.
Send command M997 S1 to install the new firmware. Preferably, send this command from Pronterface or PanelDue, because then the update status will be reported.
If you sent the M997 S1 command via the web interface, it will lose the connection and you should allow a minute or so for the firmware installation to complete before you press the Connect button. -
@dc42 M997 S1
The files loaded and I got this message:The notation came from this:

G code entered into Duet web control, is this applicable to the Maestro or is there a different process?

If you are not able to establish a connection to your Duet from your browser, see https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Installing_and_Updating_Firmware?revisionid=HEAD#Section_Fallback_procedure_Num_1. I've just updated it to cover the Duet Maestro.
EDIT: our posts crossed. You do not need to run M997 S1 on the Maestro, that is only needed to install the WiFi module firmware on the Duet WiFi.

I have the firmware installed. I downloaded the new Duet web control bin to DWC from the settings page. This is where I am now:
If the new DWC is downloaded and confirmed and the firmware is already in place, what is the next step? This comes from M3D this way. I hope that it is easy to see why this is confusing for someone.

Any reason you dont update to latest firmware and DWC as dc42 suggested?
File name is Duet2Firmware-2.02a.zip . Just upload it via DWC and all latest files are installed automatically. -
@aidar I installed it earlier today and this is my result. I get no automatic installation.
-
@novaprint I tried installing the DWC package alone, not the whole thing. Also it seems that maestro also requires a differnt set of steps in order to complete successfully,
-
@aidar Also these instructions imply that the two can be installed separately.
Installing the whole package would start a series of events that I was stuck on last week (two boards ago). I cannot get a straight answer as to why my previous board just evaporated on the firmware installation.
-
@dc42 If I installed Duet Web Control 1.22.6 zip from this download is that following the correct procedure? The instructions imply that the DWC and duet Firmware can be entered into separately. I downloaded the DWC file connected to my computer uploaded it through the general settings file and well, nothing happened. Can a web setting stop this from happening? I cookies setting a popup setting something that can explain why I am doing what seems to be the correct process to no avail?
-
What happened when you uploaded the Duet2Firmware-2.02a.zip file? Unless you have a print in progress, it should ask if you want to install it.
Uploading DuetWebControl-1.22.6.zip instead will only update DuetWebControl. You cold try uploading that, then after it has updated DWC, upload the main zip file.
-
@dc42 Uploading Duet web control only resulting in no change in the DWC interface. It did not ask me to install it. Do I need to install anything ELSE beside the DWC zip file? it never asked me to install anything. The files loaded, it confirmed the complete load, nothing was printing, and that was it loaded confirmed and then nothing. I was using an apple laptop how much would that matter?
-
@novaprint It shouldn't matter at all coming from a Mac. At least it hasn't for me in the past.
If you put the SD card into the computer is there a /www folder? You may need to delete (or rename for backup) that folder and create a new one and place the contents of the DuetWenControl-1.22.6.zip into it.
I think something somewhere along the lines failed an update. Clearing the folder and starting from scratch should do it.

Followed your directions and the same old 1.21.1 is there. I then tried a differnt web browser, typed in the URL and the new web interface came up. It seems that the web interface does not change like a regular website would change day after day under a bookmark. So I was using a bookmark to get to DWC each time, when I needed to be using the URL. Once the URL was installed the correct versions of everything was made apparent. I would be willing to bet that I am the only person on the planet that ever does that. So don't make a note of it or anything. Bookmarks are only good for current versions the URL is the best practice when making changes.

It sounds to me that your browser had cached the files and was reluctant to fetch them again. Maybe using a bookmark affects whether your browser caches a site.
-
@NOVAprint following on from what dc42 was saying about the browser caching files. Try accessing it from an incognito/in private browser window.
-
@richardmckenna I like the incognito idea. It would stop the cache and I could still use a bookmark.
-
@richardmckenna I recently erased my cache data and the new version of DWC came up. The machine is working however the motors are making more noise than originally. I do not know how to install stealth chop of spread. The notations across the Duet board us nnn to explain the variables. Is there a copy of the motor variables that I can dial in?
