Are there genuine Duet2 wifi's in stock anywhere?
-
@damaged_goods the clones are generally poorer quality and don't use the correct thickness PCB.
Unless you really need 2.4 amp for drivers, I suggest getting a duet 3 mini 5+ -
@jay_s_uk the mini won't give me the power I need for the steppers.
-
@damaged_goods well you could go with our port... info is here https://teamgloomy.github.io/
Would give you access to 5160s -
@damaged_goods You don't say where you located but Ooznest and E3D in the UK has them in stock. https://ooznest.co.uk/product/duet2/

@damaged_goods
I just looked at filastruder.com site and they say they have Duet 2 Wifi - in stock, ready to ship.
I didn't try to add to a cart but if you're in the US give them a try. -
dold-mechatronik in Germany also seems to have duet 2 wifi external and internal antenna in stock.
-
Thank you everyone. I am in Canada.
I would go with a Duet3 but I don't believe it is compatible with my expansion board or my 7" display. I need a minimum of 7 drivers.
I do wonder if the reason for the initial problem might be that I am over working the card. It didn't seem to overheat prior to the short but who knows. -

If you had active fan cooling it would be fine.
Filastruder might be your best bet in North America at the moment. If you don't want to do cross border maybe email spool3d.ca and see when they will be getting restocked.

@phaedrux I ended up ordering a duet3 mainboard. The only issue I foresee is I need one extra low power stepper driver. Is there not a way to connect my old duex5?
-
@damaged_goods there isn't way to do that. I suggest getting a toolboard to drive your extruder, freeing up a driver on the 6HC

@damaged_goods I’m in the US, and have my “old” duet2 and duex5 that I swapped out for a duet3. It’s in perfect condition and was used for only about 4-6 months. I upgraded to the duet3 so I had less complexity with the one board vs needing two.
It’s a genuine board, and was purchased from filastruder (I’m 20 minutes from them). Let me know if you’re interested. I have it lying around, thinking I’d use it to upgrade an old printer, but it’s just collecting dust.
-
@nuramori thanks for the offer but after much thought I think I was over taxing the drivers of the duet2 and that led to the boards failure. I have ordered a duet 3.
-
@damaged_goods no worries.
The duet3 rocks. You won’t be disappointed, especially since it sounds like you were using a similar controller setup to what I had in place.

@nuramori Do you know if I can run 2 small stepper motors, in parallel, off one stepper driver?

@phaedrux Do you know if I can run 2 small stepper motors, of the same axis in parallel, off one stepper driver?

Yes you can.
