Duex 2 disabling X,Y and Z axis
-
Where are the steppers plugged in? Your config is only defining the drivers on the Duet2.
The Duex drivers will need M569 definitions and any axis using those drivers must be defined in M584.
-
@phaedrux Yes I know, but is the Duet steppers being disabled because the Duex is plugged in normal ? I don't want to change a working config just to find out that defining steppers on the Duex doesn't work. My plan was to add the Duex and then set up the Z drivers, but a spanner got thrown in when the Duet steppers stopped operation
-
@phaedrux The stepper cables are plugged in as the config shows. All I did was add the Duex, then came to a halt because of the title of the post
-
Post a photo of your wiring. Adding the Duex won't change any drivers already in use on the Duet.
I wasn't sure if you meant you connected motors to the Duex, or if they were still connected to the Duet.
Also post the results of M122 when the Duex is connected please.

@phaedrux Do you want a photo of the supply to the Duex and the ribbon cable ?
It's late now where I am so will do it tomorrow morning as the Duex is not currently connected -
@br549 do you perhaps have the ribbon cable connected to the DueX, but no VIN power supplied to the DueX? I think that may prevent the drivers on the Duet being programmed.
-
@dc42 No, both the supply and the ribbon were connected. No magic smoke leaked and M115 reported Duet 2 and Duex 2

@br549 what does M122 report ?

@dc42 Thanks for your help. It turned out to be a break in the supply circuit. Your comment made me investigate the incoming power. At the Duex incoming power terminals I measured 24v but there was a dry joint on the neutral connection to the board, manufacturing fault. I resoldered it and now everything is working as it should. Once again, thank you
