closed loop nema 17/23 driver/controller for Duet 3 6hc board
-
@dc42 I would be willing to pay $200 US for the controller, has there been a price point discussed on this yet?... I would love to be a (beta tester/youtube unboxer) tester of this controller. Also what are you using for steppers, or have you come up with a duet closed loop nema 17/23 motor for this new board?
-
@supertb1 we are testing with Nema 17 and Nema 34 steppers with built-in encoders from StepperOnline. Price will be higher than a tool board but I expect it to be lower than a 3HC. We will also offer an optional magnetic encoder + magnet to go on the back of a standard stepper motor.

@dc42 set it to preorder somethere %-) willing to put some buks there

This is amazing! I was already looking into ways to add encoders to my Bondtech LGX extruders. Thank you for your hard work!
-
@chernogorsky I agree, I would be willing to put some money on this for pre-order.

@dc42 all good progress. Looking forward to getting my hands on one!

@dc42 Awesome news, thank you and congrats to Louis as well!

@dc42 Hey David,
What kind of current rating are you thinking for these boards?

TristanUp to 6.3A peak (4.5A RMS) @ up to 50V.
We have the new hardware prototypes running now.

I am adding cnc capabilities to a manual Lathe at work and was intending to use 2, 4'ish amp Closed loop Nema 23's from Stepperonline and a Duet 2 with expansion board for control. After reading this I would much rather use a MB6HC and the new expansion board. If I could get my hands on one of your new prototypes that would be great. Please let me know if you are interested in dedicating a board for cnc testing. I can be ready in as little as 3 weeks -
@3dpmicro depending on what else you want to drive, it is may be that a Duet 3 Mini + the closed loop boards would be sufficient for your system.
-
@dc42
Not much else. Spindle control at some point. I can see how the MB6HC would be a bit overkill for the application. -
@dc42 Hello dc42, it is that time of the month and I am as excited as I have been to take part in field testing the new closed loop controller and steppers. How close is Duet3D to coming to market? As always best regards.
-
@supertb1 we'll be starting the beta test phase shortly.
-
@dc42 I am interested to test, willing to pay for the hardware

Sounds neat. What MCU do they use?
I'm definitely in for beta, if you're looking for volunteers. I have machines that are heavily EMF-limited at 325mm/s+, have stepper analyzers, and run 15k accel. I'll make sure they get the hot supper they deserve, and finally max out my Magnum+ with a .4mm nozzle.

I have a professional IDEX printer prepared for closed loop with Nanotech motors featuring integrated encoders. Since all the cabling is already in place, only the closed loop controllers are missing... I would be very happy to support the beta testing.

@dc42 I would also like to join the beta crew, and would purchase several once everything is refined.
Thanks
