I think I like the not currently and not supported at present undertones. And oh dear, I keep forgetting we're relatively okay with pandemic if we ignore some social restrictions that most nerds wouldn't have noticed anyway if it weren't for the masks.. Oh well, no rush - stay safe out there!

Few board available on E3donline
Thanks for the hint! It seems I managed to order one.

Have to paid 43€ for tax to France a bit expensive
-
Yikes!
Well, we shall see. Someone has to pay all the years of negotiation. At least I should have a board to test the X-axis of my in-development hightemp 3D printer soon. Buying something else temporarily costs money too.

Hopefully the new eu tax rules will help as of 01.07.2021, but i don't think it's a priority for e3d to adapt to OSS when they have local resellers despite availability being an issue. We got similar rules as of 01.04.2020 and most imports in the 0-300€ range became cheaper, not to mention easier and faster.

That's crazy! is that the Brexit changes kicking in? My understanding was that (other than VAT) there should be no tariffs/duty on goods. VAT should work itself out as UK VAT is the same/similar to other UK countries (~20%).
-
and we are going to get boards out to our European resellers ASAP!
-
@T3P3Tony the main rule about exporting from UK is that if a product is "at least 20- 40% made in UK" ( depends of category) then there is no extra taxes. There may be some increase in shipping taxes because of the paperwork the UK sender/ carrier needs to fill in.
On topic...I managed to get myself a Duet3 mini and finally get rid of my last non Duet board on my printers. Now just need to forget everything about Marlin and get fully used with RepRap

I think pipersw mixes up tax as in import tax and VAT as in value added tax; while not paying UK VAT and paying EU VAT when importing works out to about the same, there is usually a substantial fee to go along with the VAT amount. So while the VAT might be about €20, FedEx adding another €20 or so to process the import is no uncommon. The OSS system due 01.07.2021 "solves" this by allowing foreign sellers to collect EU VAT before sending and eliminating the fee to process imports (at least that's how it worked out up here).

E3D does not paid me the VAT, but Fedex add 32€ of tax, and 18€ of administration fees.

E3D should have charged you the VAT-exclusive price if the date of shipment was in 2021.
-
In my case they did.
-
@DaBit I have the same invoice from E3D. It's FedEx the issue
-
Yes, Fedex and UPS will screw you. VAT, import duties, and on top of that a lot of additional cost for customs clearance, delivery, administrative work, carbon footprint compensation, delivery guy coffee cost compensation, channel crossing waiting time compensation, currency exchange cost, some cost related to corona because that is a handy excuse, some cost related to Fukushima because it used to be a handy excuse, toe nail clipping expenses, and I probably forgot a bunch of other costs.
-
The VAT you would have paid anyway, it's the charge they make for collecting the VAT that is the problem. Also, most carriers have increased the charges for shipping from UK to EU now because of the Brexshit paperwork.

I don't have problems with paying VAT and import duties, or at least no more than when buying from local suppliers. If I buy from a local store I have to indirectly pay those as well, and not having to pay them (e.g. when ordering something from Banggood) is unfair to local shops. They go out of business, and sooner or later we have to order every screw from some random seller X that takes three weeks to arrive. An undesirable situation IMHO.
I do have problems with the rest of the cost structure; With PostNL it happens from time to time that I have to pay EUR 15,95 for transport from customs clearance to the final destination. Normally sending a package from A to B within NL would cost EUR 6,95.... They simply make you pay for all the other packages that slip through unnoticed.
But oh well, there is little you can do about it. And they know that too.
