Extruder Motor Stoped and nolonger can be found?

Hi Guys, I haven’t had time to check everything other than the wiring. I’m hoping that someone might have had something similar and help me before I strip everything. I woke up this morning to check my print to find that 2/3 of the way through it had obviously stopped extruding. It’s been fine up until now. I try to manually get it to extrude but nothing, it in fact gives an error basically saying it can’t locate the motor. Is it possible that the firmware could have become corrupt or more likely the motor died?
Lastly, not related to the above problem, I have noticed if I heat the bed to 100c it bombs out as soon as it hits the 100, I run in at 97c and its fine. Is there a firmware setting to limit the temp?

Do you mean a "Motor phase x may be disconnected" message? Does it report this for both phases A and B, or just one of them?
If it's just one phase, the likely causes in order of decreasing probability are:
- Bad crimp connection in the cable
- Blown stepper driver
- Blown motor

Thanks guys, im not at home at the moment so ill see when i get back, ill also give the exact wording for the fault. I only managed to replace the wiring to the motor, then needed to leave for work. Ill check the motor by trying another one i have off another printer. The driver... thats part of the board yes? Would that require a complete board replacement? I realy apreciate the way you guys respond so quickly, thank you.

Ok i will run that and post the out put as soon as i get home. I think i mis-worded that, i was thinking that there might already be a setting thats causing it to bomb out at 100. I was hoping to check and remove that if there was.

ok so got home ran the extruder motor on the x motor cable briefly and it works. Motor OK.
Then assembled and tried to see what was going on.
Firstly, the wording of the error was "Attempting to extrude with no tool selected." After redoing wiring just in case, I still could not get it to extrude. Then I ran the "04 test motors" command (think it’s a macro??") and got all the motors do their thing even the extruder motor runs. However, the test then gives a message as follows:
"may be disconnected reported by driver(s) 3 Waning motor phase B may be disconnected Warning motor phase A may be disconnected." No idea. However, In the process I seem to think that the extruder won’t extrude if the heater on the head is below temp.
So, retest the motors again, and it now appears to be working. I am printing a test to see. I notice that I’m printing the ABS at 245 in order for it to flow properly. The print that stopped was printing at 230 and seemed to be a little hard. Shouldn’t be but the print shows sights of poor adhesion etc. Which makes me wonder if the ABS was not fluid enough and too much pressure builds up could it send a command to stop extruding? After that even powering off and on won’t make it work and the error: “Attempting to extrude with no tool selected." Shows. However, the 04 test all motors seems to reset it??
Please note I’m a mechanic and IT Tech guy, I know almost nothing when it comes to programming, so this is all guess work as I’m trying to understand why. Its working (yippy) but I want to understand what the heck made it not work lol.
Does my logic sound likely? -
@veti so good news, i found that there was a line where the temp limit was set to 100C
Simpil matter to change it by adding a 0 (1000C).
Just kidding I set it to 110C. Now it happely runs at 100C and gives no error.

It sounds like maybe your thermistor parameters don't match your actual thermistor and so your temp readings are not accurate.
What is the thermistor you are using, and what values are you using for it in config.g?

@phaedrux i dont know. I will have a look and see. How do i tell what thermostat im using?
I havent done it before but I will see if i can calibrate it. -

That can be tricky to find out if it isn't advertised for the printer itself. If it's a genuine E3D hotend, you'd have a semitek thermistor with known settings.
The best bet is to buy a new thermistor with known values.
What is your hotend?
