@adhanabal if S3D allows it, you could try this:

if move.axes[2].userPosition>0.3 G91 ; use relative moves G1 U0.1 G90 ; use absolute moves

where I have assumed that 0.3 is greater than your first layer height but less then your second layer height. S3D may make the first layer height available to you as [first_layer_height] or something similar.

@oliof it shouldn't be hard to port the PanelDue code to RP2040. We already have CoreN2G for RP2040 although it doesn't yet have the UART support.

However, as the RP2040 has so much more flash memory available, it could do more than the existing PanelDue does. I am working on a personal project that uses RP2040 + 5" display (the one that the non-integrated PanelDue used) + LVGL GUI library as the UI for a home energy management system. I'll publish it on my blog. However, I don't expect to make any more progress on it until after FormNext.

Wow, what a ride ..... I am happy (more like ecstatic) to report that after correcting my config.g (thanks again @gloomyandy ) the printer completed both a pressure advance test and a temperature tower without any complications whatsoever !
I did an M122 Bnn and nothing seemed out of the ordinary ... but then the prints came out just fine so there shouldn't have been anything odd to report.

@tylersuard one option is to use EXP1HCL expansion boards to drive stepper motors with built in quadrature encoders. They can be connected to your Duet 3 Mini.

We also have in prototype form magnetic encoder boards that can be bolted on the back of existing 1.8deg stepper motors, for use with the EXP1HCL; and we have other closed loop options under development.

As @DIY-O-Sphere suggests, if you currently run the X and Y motors in stealthChop mode then switch them to spreadCycle to better handle obstructions.

Well for sure, if you set different steps per mm for each extruder, then bad things are going to happen. But if the steps per mm are set correctly for each extruder, and there is no extruder slippage, then you shouldn't have a problem.

In your opening post you asked the question " Is the Duet 2 WiFi powerful enough to run 2 extruder motors simultaneously...." and the answer is yes. But if you don't set the extruders up properly, so that they both feed at exactly the same rate, then you will have problems - that's a mechanical or tuning issue. From a Duet perspective, both the firmware and hardware are capable of doing what you want to do. But there is no easy way to compensate for mechanical or tuning errors that you might introduce when setting it up.

@Phaedrux Yes I have researched that link and my drivers were (before HW change) working fine, but that firmware issue with my second board caused my problems. Now the drivers are fixed and working as I need them to.

I have found the auto config not useful at all with my specific design and HW implementation. I needed 8 driver to run 2 carriages and my new 3 motor driver Z axis. I added 3 add on polo drivers (8825s) for the Z. I moved the Z drivers to 5,6,and 7 to maintain common driver motor combos as recommended. With this implementation of drivers, the "auto config" can not compute. I can not make the old Z driver into my new U driver as that option is not allowed (as far as I can see).

Now my only issues relate to my new Z probe (NPN inductive) not working and having gone up to RRF 3.4 I need to figure out how to get 3 point leveling working (reference, pivot, roll) to sync to three motors/drivers but that is no longer a HW or wiring issue so I'll more to a different tread/forum.

@unit-005 that should be OK. The starting current of the motor will be a lot higher than 1.2A if you command full power immediately, but a short-term surge of 10A should not cause the Duet a problem. You can work out the starting current if you measure the resistance of the motor and divide that into 24V. Measure the resistance several times, turning the shaft slightly between readings, and take the lowest value.

@surrfman are there any part number labels on the motors? If so then you can look them up online. If not, then I suggest you measure the resistance of one phase; then you can search a stepper motor catalogue for a motor of similar Nema size, length and phase resistance to get a good estimate of the other parameters.

You could also try to identify the stepper motor driver chips on the Raise board, which wold give a good idea of the motor current requirements.
