If the carriages will move down but just vibrate when you try to move them up, there are two possibilities:

Bad connection in the wiring. If just one tower had this problem, then this would most likely be the reason.

Motor current set too low. What current did you set in M906, and what is the rated current of the motors?

Positive values in the G1 S2 commands should move the carriages up, negative down. So you may need to reverse the motor directions in your M569 commands.

I found this https://www.shapeways.com/product/E628BXAJW/bi-v2-5-effector-for-chimera-with-ir but it's not cheap and I don't know whether the rod spacing is suitable for a Mini Kossel. There is at least one thread on using a Chimera/Cyclops on a delta on the reprap forum, but that forum seems to be down at present.

While you can have up to 6 movement axis configured on the Duet they are synced together and all.run off the one gcode stream. So the two.machines could not run at once without some very crazy gcode hacking.

With remapping and custom configuration you could run two machines at different times. So you could have a duet with Duex5 wired to a delta and a Cartesian printer that has two seperate config.g files, remapped the axis as appropriate. You would then rename the config file you wanted to use to config.g and restart.

Saying that this is way more effort than it's worth.
