Duet Wifi on a Lulzbot Taz 6???
-
I own a Lulzbot Taz 6 printer which does it's bed leveling using 4 touch points on the 4 corners of the heated bed. This is done using the nozzle of the printer and it makes an electrical contact to the metal touch plates. My question is, is there a way to use the Duet Wifi board mesh leveling using this type of setup at the 4 corners?
I think it's pretty much just completing a circuit similar to what an endstop switch does when homing an axis.
I don't know much at all about the technical side of 3d printing so I wanted to reach out to the community to see if this is even possible with this mainboard.
Thanks for your time.

Yup, very possible, Fusion3 F410 does it the same way.

Keep in mind, with the current Marlin Branch, if the contact does not work, it goes to the Wiper Pad for Re-Wiping.
Not sure if this is possible without any modification to the Duet firmware or if this is required at all.
And you may think about adding a safety-feature that the Nozzle will not rammed into the Metal-Plate as Filament is blocking the contact.Probably a IR Sensor or BL Touch could work here.
Another option could be to have FSR installed where the Metal plates are, this would also enable the option to use a thicker Glass Bed.
I know about JohnSL's FSR Board which supports only 3 FSR.
Does anybody knows by heart a Out-of-the-Box 4x FSR Solution? In worst case, this can be done using some Attiny / Arduino etc.
The Source for Johns Board is available and I'm pretty sure, adaption should be easy. -
@crynool My issue is that I'm not a programmer by any means and from what I keep hearing, hasn't there have been many issues using a BL-Touch with the Duet.
I'm pretty much new to 3d printing as of this year...I purchased my Taz 6 first and then got an Ender 3 to mess around with after that. I'm looking at convert the ender 3 first to a Duet Wifi which should be rather simple..then possibly the Taz 6. That's why I'm putting feelers out about bed leveling the taz.
Do IR sensors work with glass? I do have PEI on both my printer's glass but didn't know if the semi-transparency would be an issue?
Thanks for your suggestions.

Many users are running BLTouch successfully with Duet. the few that have problems are mostly using BLTouch clones rather than the real thing.
The IR sensor works best with non-transparent bed surfaces. PEI and glass are both problematic. One of my printers uses 3mm glass and the IR sensor works reasonable well on it, but I never coat the glass with anything.
