What I need to order

Hi Everybody I'm new with DUET, I'm assembling a big 3d printer 2 meter x 1 meter, I want to use DUET but I need some help, too noob xdd, I want to use closed loop steppers.
The machine has 4 indepent Z axis, X Y and E all with closed loop steppers.
I want to use a Panel DUE also.
The exturder is a Pulsar From DYZE, I now they will send me some Duet PT100 Daughter Board for the thermistors.
Could you give me some advices about what to buy. Thanks in advance.

The first step is to identify the closed loop steppers or servos you want to use. ideally you will start with a calculation of the mass of the axes that the motors are going to be moving, along with desired acceleration. With that you can work back to the torque requirements, you can then add in any gearing you want and then look to see what the motor requirements will be (don't forget to also specify a max speed for the axes to work back to a max motor RPM),
Once you have that you will be able look for suitable closed loop motors, either ones with their own drivers who need step/direction input (in which case the Duet 3 6XD would be a good start point, or using the 1HCL Duet 3 closed loop expansion boards 9at lease for X and Y). it is not always necessary to used closed loop on Z, but of course there is no harm in doing so.
If you have a look through the forum here there are some examples of larger builds what may help, for example the recent build and upgrade by @DrDFlo

@T3P3Tony Hi Tony thanks for your anwser. I got clear what type of motor I will use.
I saw the video from Dr. Dflow, when he uploaded to youtube, My build is similar to his.
But I saw in the video that he uses 2 boards and I think he didn't talk about that 2 boards, of couse he uses the HCL boards for the closed loop stepper,I got that clear, 1 for each motor, and connect them using can bus.
But I need just 1 Duet 3 6HC or I need to add also a Duet 3 epansion 3HC.
In my case I only have 7 Driver.Best Alvaro

@Makergal3D if you are going to use our expansion 1HCL boards to drive your closed loop stepper motors, then you can use any Duet 3 main board and you don't need any other expansion boards. Choose the most appropriate Duet 3 main board according to what you need it to drive apart from the closed loop stepper motors.
If instead you want to use other closed loop stepper drivers having step and direction inputs, then you will need a 6XD main board for the first 6 drivers and a 1XD expansion board for the last one.
BTW our magnetic encoders will be available from our resellers very soon. These work with our 1HCL boards to turn an ordinary stepper motor into a closed loop one. They provide absolute shaft position to much higher resolution than typical encoders supplied with motors, and they take up less room.

@dc42 So You mean that If I use the HCL boards, that substitute my driver. If I want to use the driver they sent with the motor, I need the Duet 3 and the expansion board right??
-
@Makergal3D yes. If you already have the motors and drivers, and don’t want to return them, a 6XD and 1XD will command the 7 drivers you need.
There is one issue I see. How many motors are on the Pulsar extruder? Is it just one, and you’re going to run it from one of the external motor drivers? I see it has 3x PT100 to control the temperature through the extruder. Does it have 3x heaters as well? These PT100 daughter boards are going to need to be connected to the 6XD, and any heater associated with the PT100 will need to be connected to the 6XD as well. You could do this using 3HC if it makes wiring easier (have the 3HC and 1XD on the extruder/tool), but you wouldn’t be using any of the other I/O or motor drivers on the 3HC.

@droftarts thanks for your answer. The pulsar have just one motor yes. And it has 3 heaters and 3 thermistors.

@Makergal3D the temperature sensor on the Pulsar is a PT100, not a thermistor. They are different temperature sensors. That’s why you need the PT100 daughterboards; thermistors can be connected directly to the Duet boards.

@droftarts I know, I assemble a lot of e3d pt100 thermistor, but they need an amplification board, I supposed they are the same in DUET.
So just for clarify.
If I use Duet Close Loop Boards (HCL)
I need to buy
1 Duet 3
7 HCL BoardsIf I use the drivers that I bought with the motor
1 Duet 3 6XD
1 Duet 3 1XD -

The daughter boards are a bit different than the E3D amplifier boards.
