Repairing PanelDue V1 USB connector
-
Several years ago I accidentally pulled off the USB connector for my original PanelDue which was purchased back on 2016/06/01. I'm assuming this board was a V1, as other orders after this were V2 and had re-arranged some of the components causing the PanelDue board not to stick out from the LCD as much.
Since this PanelDue would pre-date anything before Duet3D existed, I've been looking through the dc42\PanelDue area, but I didn't see any list of components. If I want to replace the USB connector, what was the original connector? Is there a suitable replacement these days or would I just be better off soldering a cable directly to the existing board?
I'm wanting to try and fix this board as it works with a Duet 0.8.5 and I have no need to upgrade to a V3 board. The existing PanelDue is running 1.21, so I was going to upgrade it to 1.25 before making some personal changes to the firmware.

Can you share a photo of the connector?

@pdbeal if the USB connector has come off, most likely it has taken some of the PCB traces with it, so you would not be able to solder a new one one. In the unlikely event that's not the case, I can go through my records and find the part number for you.

@dc42 this is the board as it is today. It’s hard to tell if it’s lost the center 2 traces. Although it looks like those just come from R3 and R2 respectively, so the traces could be jumped if they are disconnected.
One other question would be X4 and X5. If it isn't possible to replace the missing USB jack, can it be flashed with X4 or X5?

I fixed it by ordering a Micro USB to DIP Adapter 5pin Female Connector B Type PCB Converter pinboard from Amazon and then soldering jumper wires to the associated components based on the v1.1 schematic. Got it working and updated to 1.25.0 firmware now.
For anyone that finds this post in the future looking for that USB part number, your schematic calls out Micro-USB-Receptacle - TJC-0069-B47589-0001
