Is it possible to use Hiwin E1 controller?
-
Hello i am trying to understand if i can use some linear motors with controller that we already have to power the gantry of a new printer we are building.
The controller is Hiwin E1, as little as i understand i should be able to control it trough 5v ttl but wanted to check just to make sure.
I would use it trough an 1XD expansion board for each axis.
Controller manual: https://www.hiwin.it/images/download/documenti/E1 Series Servo Drive User Manual V1.7 (EN).pdfthanks in advance.

@highfreq it looks like that controller can be controlled using standard step and direction signals. I didn't find a specification of the minimum control signal input voltage. However, one of the diagrams shows 220 ohm input series resistors, so 5V should be enough, perhaps even 3V.

@dc42 Thank you very much. Any chance to have Ethercat beta anytime soon. Do you have any plans on it?
thanks,
Corrado

@highfreq we don't currently have any plans for Ethercat.

@dc42 Thanks.
We will use that controller that is in closed loop on a linear motor. Do you think we will have any problem driving it with standard step or loose any of the linear motor precision?
