Switch from 3.3 to 3.4RC2
-
Hi guys, my Duet Voron is up and running now thanks to you guys. Thanks for that
If I want to switch from 3.3 to 3.4rc2 now, what do I have to consider? Does the printer still run without changing anything in the config? Do I then have to update my Panel due as well?
Thanks in advance
Greetings from germany -

Hm, some trouble with unstable versions, I guess. The "RC" stands for release candidate, not for the final or "finished" version 3.4. After you had some trouble setting up 3.3 properly, I would ultimately wait for the final version of the coming release.

@jamaicarasta please read at least the Upgrade Notes section of https://github.com/Duet3D/RepRapFirmware/wiki/Changelog-RRF-3.x-RC#reprapfirmware-340rc1 to see what you may need to change.
The known issues with the RC1 release are listed in the "Bug fixes" section of the draft RC2 release notes at https://github.com/Duet3D/RepRapFirmware/wiki/Changelog-RRF-3.x-RC#reprapfirmware-340rc2.

Ok thanks friends. I think i will wait for the stable version.
Is it possible to make input shaping with the 3.3 version and the accelometer with SH at the end? -

Then when I do the update. Just put the zip file in and update? Will my config, bed, beforeprint, start files then be retained? -

Yes. But as with all updates, you should make a copy of your current installation and configuration before, so that you are not lost if something goes wrong with the new version. Simply back-up your SD card on a PC (or Mac) …

Always keep a copy of a version which works, so you can revert to that if some new installations, configuration changes etc. don't run as expected. I understand that you now have a trusted setup with RRF 3.3 - keep a copy of this state before you install 3.4. I even make copies of the SD card before I fiddle around with the config or my macros, not only in the event of a new firmware version.
