Enabling / Disable stealthchop on demand
-
Hi,
Have been using stealthchop on my printer configured via config.g, but I'd like to make it something I can enable / disable on demand.
Assuming that my printer is already powered on, and I've enabled stealthchop, how would I go about turning it back off?
Roughly thinking:
- Power off the motors with M18
- Reset settings of M569 / M915
Are there any settings that would unintentionally stick around?

I think you'd need to redo the calibration move once re-enabled. Like a short homing move.

@phaedrux Cool, that makes sense. Any other things I should watch out for?
After this might take a pass at enabling/disabling stealthchop midprint, thinking if I keep the z-steppers energized then I can move the head away from the print, reinitialize the x/y steppers, rehome, and then continue printing.

@ibash another option is just to use the M569 V parameter to switch the changeover speed between a very low speed and a very high speed. Then there will be no need to turn motors off and re-home, if you homed in stealthChop mode originally. Just pause the print before changing mode.
