Won't connect after sitting idle

Hi all, been a while.

Done it again, left it sitting idle for a long time and now I want to use it, it won't play dice.

It's starting up and seems to be connecting at the printer end, but the DWC won't open on the computer.

Absolutely nothing has changed since I last used it and it worked fine, it's a fickle bugger lol. It's a Duet 2 board with the last firmware version. Been pretty reliable generally.

Can't see anything in the docs specifically relating to this... where would I start?

@corexy Do you get any error message in the browser when trying to connect to the IP address? Or just doesn't connect? Does the blue LED come on solidly on the WiFi module?

If you need to know the IP address the Duet is using, connect via USB (be aware of ground loops https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/USB_ground_loops ) and send M552 to see IP address. If it's got a sensible one, you may be able to look up on your network router for connected devices, and check it shows there, too. If you then connect a browser and it gives you a page which says:

Your Duet rejected the HTTP request: page not found
Check that the SD card is mounted and has the correct files in its /www folder

then it's an issue with the SD card, which is either failing, or is missing files in the www folder.

No, the blue light is flashing on and off, which I figured was no good.

The IP address shouldn't have changed. This thing seems to go wrong if you leave it without using it for months.

I have to pull the bottom plate off the printer to access the usb, I'll clean the bench off and make a job of it soon.

That means the wifi module is searching for an access point that it knows about. If you connect a laptop via USB (or look in the PanelDue console, if you have one) then you should see messages such as "No known access points found" or "Password error" or similar. You can also send M587 to list the access points that it knows about.

Here's what I'm getting.

Literally nothing has been touched or changed since I used it last. The IP address shown on the paneldue is neither the IP address on my laptop that links to the DWC, nor the IP address of the mobile phone that I use as a wifi hotspot. I have no idea why that would change... it's not like I have the computer skills to go in there and change it lol.

I've got no DWC at this stage, and I've got to pull a cover off (and clean the bench, but not the end of the world) to get at the USB plug on the board. Can I do anything via the paneldue to get it connecting again?

Home and other functions work via the paneldue by the way.

Can you post your config.g so we can see what it's doing at boot?

If you don't want to do VIA USB commands you can create some macros and place them on the SD card and then execute the macros from the panel.

How can I post my config.g without access to the DWC? I'll just have to set up the usb cable and go through the connection procedure again I guess. I certainly didn't change my config.g files, this thing's got a mind of its own sometimes.

You can put the SD card in a PC and view and edit the files directly with a text editor.

@corexy Looking closer at your screen shot it appears to be trying to list more remembered networks than is possible to view on a single line on PanelDue. If you connect via USB terminal it may show them all. What I think might be happening is it's trying to connect to a network that's no longer available?

Sure fire way is to clear all remembered networks and then add the one you want to use now.

M588 S"*" to forget all.
