Duet3 Neopixel Wiring
-
Duet 3 with firmware 3.1.1 supports Neopixels directly. If the current draw of the whole strip is within limits, you can connect them directly to the Dotstar connector on the Duet, leaving the CLK pin on the DotStar connector not connected. Alternatively, supply them with 5V from your separate 5V PSU, and use just the GND and DO pins of the Dotstar connector.
Maximum number of Neopixels supported is 50. Use the M150 command to control them.

You connect it as described above but I don't think it works on the 3 yet (at least not for me). Namouri did get it working apparently on his with a modified v2 code but I don't think anyone else has.
-
Thanks guys. Will give it a try as soon as the build is done and I'm going to do the configuration stuff
-
Onemore question please after looing at the docs: how can I control the three Neopixel seperately?

Using M150, to program any particular LED, you must also program all the LEDs earlier in the chain; but you can set any mix of colours you like. See the example at https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Gcode#Section_M150_Set_LED_colours.
I may in future provide a way to specify which LED you want to start at.

Got it Thanks.

@MartinNYHC I'm at a standstill on this part of my BLV/Duet3/Neopixel build... so if you get that code working to report status, please be sure to share here and/or on the Facebook page. please and thank you!
-
I've also got this on my to-do list with my BLV/Duet3... Will be sure to update if I get to it before someone else!
-
Yes, of course. Once I finished all the cabling stuff I'll look into this.
-
I have mine working on my BLV with the duet3. It’s actually easier than it was with the duet2. I can share details and pictures in a bit if you’re interested.

Yes please

@Nuramori I think there are a few people that would love to know too!
-
I just finished the cabling except for the Neopixels. So if you could share your details that would be very helpful

Dumb question, but why neopixel if the duet3 supports Dotstar?

Because in first interation I'm building a BLV mgn cube as per instructions. How it looks at the end....we will see
-
@QuintBrand The Neopixel rings on the BLV MGN are much more than just lighting for the unit. The three rings independantly report through color shift and number of leds lit the bed temp, hotend temp and percent completion of current job
Allowing a quick visual inspection to see if the temps are right and about how much longer on the job.
not necessary... but SUPER COOL!
-
THX for the reply, I've seen this online and while following the work of Nuramori on his blv. It is indeed really really cool stuff and so I now understand only neopixel can do this because there are round circle ones?
I'd like to start with led too, but do hard to figure out what type to use 🥴️
-
@QuintBrand in theory it should work with any set of LEDs that are individually addressable so you can send commands to each unit to say how many leds and which color. Straight or round is a stylistic choice. So its a bit more complex than standard RGB LEDs which only allow for color and brightness of the entire set.
-
@Nuramori details would be most helpful as this is one of the last implementation items for me as well

Duet 3 supports Neopixel directly as well now.
