Panel Due LCD SD card speeds
-
I installed the 10 pin jumper for the SD card on the LCD form the panel due to the Duet ethernet. The max speed for me seems to top out around 167KB/s when uploading a file to the card from the web interface. I've tested with class 4 and 10 SD cards/ This is slower than the onboard microsd card on the Duet ethernet. I'm just wondering if this is normal or if I might have a cabling issue. I have extended the LCD to Panel due board with a 10" cable as well.
thanks,

That's normal. The SD socket on the TFT panel uses the slow SPI interface to the SD card, not the high speed HSMCI interface that the on-board socket uses. The interface speed difference is about 40:1. But even 167kbyes/sec is way faster than the speed I last heard mentioned for uploading files to the built-in SD card on a competing 32-bit board over its web interface.

Thanks David. Yes 167 KB/s is plenty fast for sure. I just wanted to make sure my wiring extension wasn't impacting anything.

Your wiring extension may affect the reliability of communications with the external SD card but not the speed.

So far so good. I've done several prints with it to test it. Will post back if I encounter any issues with the extension.
