It seems Slic3r uses [] to denote variables, so if they're found, it immediately tried to process and then fails. I wonder if an alternate form can be made available along the lines of:
heat.sensors.6.lastReading
This then doesn't trip the error. For now I can post process to just put the [] back in.

There's your answer, the firmware can't detect the thermistor. Maybe a bad crimp connection?

no, i did not change anything except leaving out C7.06E-8 in the first m308 - did not even touch the printer.

@bearer It's a good idea. I can write a few different macros for the few variations I would typically have for startup. Thanks for the suggestion.

@SpoonUnit if you need variety you could still control it from the slicer and have M98 execute the file of your choosing. (not sure if parameters are implemented yet, but think it on the to-do list)

@bearer Yep. That's exactly what I was thinking once you suggested using macros. I already store retraction settings in retraction.g, so this is just an extension of that type of thinking.

Strange. I just sent:
m308 s5 p"temp1" Y"thermistor" B4725 C7.06e-8 a"temp1"
to a Duet 3 MB6HC running in standalone mode with an E3D thermistor connected to temp1. In the Extras tab of DWC it reads 23C, which is about right.
Are you running in standalone mode, or with attached SBC? If with SBC, what version of DSF are you running on the SBC?

How do you know it is 20C too high? What else are you using to measure the temperature? Is it a genuine E3D thermistor cartridge?

- yes, it's a genuine e3d thermistor
- my pla is specified to be printed 190C - 210C but can't be printed below 215C (better 220C)
- i installed a 2nd thermistor (from a cheap chinese hotend which printed reasonable @195C
as i'm kind of losing faith, yesterday i also contacted e3d.

Do you have any fixed resistors that you can connect in place of the thermistor to check whether the Duet+RRF is giving the correct readings? For example, a 150 ohm resistor should give a reading close to 260C.

I have recently updated to this firmware from the 3.01 Beta3 release and have been experiencing crashing during prints.
These were the following errors that were displayed on the console:

Thanks for your report. From the stack trace I can see where the code is failing, but not why. Please tell me a little about your machine configuration. In particular, are you using any CAN-connected expansion boards, and if so, what devices have you configured on them?
PS - also, what type of Z probe are you using?
[Note to self: assertion failed at line 404 of port.c. It appears to be trying to enter an interrupt critical section while executing the SysTick ISR.]

these are the results of my measurements
1000 ohm -> 160c
33o ohm -> 215c
220 ohm -> 237cwhich are roughly consistent with https://e3d-online.dozuki.com/Wiki/Thermistor_table. . so i feel, it's the thermistor which provides too low resistances. consequently there is no reason to blame duet.
