Thermal runaway not active by default?

Monitoring the console I don't see any errors being thrown either though is that normal?

Hi,
I beleive the safety is built in in regards to your max bed and tool temps.
Did you try to heat the hotend up when the thermistor was disconnected?
It won't shutdown so nothing will work, hence why you can move your axis's.
I think it gives you a 'Heater Error' and you would have to reboot the control board to clear the error.

Edit - Veti beat me too it! -

You should get a Heater Fault message on the GCode Console in Duet Web Control, on PanelDue if you have one, and sent to USB. The heater will be in the Fault state (this will be shown by DWC) and you will need to reset the Duet or send M562 to clear the fault.

@dc42 That's what I thought! Am I missing something in my config? https://pastebin.com/bRCFi4gR (also how do people add code snippets directly to posts in that scrollable window?) I'm using a PT100 if that makes a difference. Oddly I now see that at the top of my config it says it was setup for a Duet Wifi when I had set it up for a Duet ethernet.

@singhm29 do you have a PT100 plugged in to the first port on the PT100 daughterboard?
I have pinned the how to format posts:

@singhm29 apologies I just reread your initial post and see your thermistor is working but you are disconnecting it to test.
As others have said when it's disconnected the heater that it is associated with should display "fault" in DWC. If that happens it is working as intended.

No problem! The issue however is that I get a reading of 2000 instead of fault and no error in DWC making me wonder what I've done wrong in the setup to have the safeguards disabled

If you are getting readings of 2000, the heater will go into the fault state as soon as you try to heat it up. It will not go into the fault state or report any other error as long as you leave it turned off.
