SOLVED Dug myself into a hole with firmware - need help
-
Long story short, While investigating something I thought I'd try reverting back to a firmware version earlier than 1.17. I found 1.15e on my PC so uploaded that. Now I want to go back to some flavour of 1.17 but can't. When I try, I get this:
Can't rename file or directory /sys/DuetWiFiFirmware-1.17rc3.bin to /sys/DuetWiFiFirmware.bin
Can't delete file /sys/DuetWiFiFirmware.binHelp please.

I to have fallen into that trap it is cos the DWC you have is not compatible with older FW you will need to use the Recovery procedure using USB and SaMba
Doug
(There has been a recent thread about recovering a seemingly dead DuetWiFi)
This is what you need try Recovery Proc 3

See backup procedure #1 in the firmware update instructions, https://duet3d.com/wiki/Updating_main_firmware#Backup_procedure_.231.

Thank you. Procedure#1 did the job (once I realised that I had to rename the firmware file to just plain DuetWiFiFirmware.bin)

Might be wise to have some sort of confirmation/warning when trying to downgrade firmware.
