DWC questions

While making adjustments and such, I frequently will cancel a print. After doing so, the heaters will shut off. Is there a way to change this so they stay on until commanded to shut off?
Because I know I will be trying another print immediately, I then turn the heaters back on manually so they don't cool down too much. When doing so, if I turn on the hot end heater first, the bed heater will not turn on immediately. I am clicking directly on "Heater 1" and "Bed" when attempting to restart the heaters. It can take some time before the bed heater will respond, and even other commands (such as moving any of the axis) will not respond. If I turn on the Bed heater FIRST, I can immediately turn on the hot end heater, etc. Is this a known issue or just user caused?

If you create a cancel.g file in /sys then the heaters will not turn off when you cancel a print. I don't know why DWC isn't responding to those commands immediately.

I tried to create a cancel.g file but apparently one must enter something in the file to create it. Didn't know what to write, so I just put in a comment. And, it works…thanks!

Hi David,
It's been quite some time since I've been here as the Duet Wifi had been working great. The laptop I used just died and I can't figure out how to get the DWC installed. I found the github site but that site confuses me to no end. I downloaded the DWC zip file but can't figure out what to do with it. A google search for installing it also comes up with nothing. Please help. -
@scoty What firmware version are you using currently?
If it's a recent one (1.19 or newer maybe) you should be able to upload the whole zip file in the settings window on the DWC and it will update the files for you. If it's an older firmware you will have to go through some manual steps.

Thanks, I realized I was just using the wrong IP address to access the Duet Wifi. And I realize now that the DWC lives on the Duet, not on the PC. It has been quite some time since I set this thing up and I struggled with it a bit. I guess I should probably attempt to update the firmware and all. I first need to reconfigure Simplify3D since I lost all it's settings when I lost the laptop.
