Power down the PanelDue

I read that last year this was proposed:

Can you suggest a specification for this feature? For example:When should the display be turned off? Just when M81 is executed, or in response to other events as well?
When should it be turned on again? By M81? When the screen is touched?
If the screen is turned off by M81 but the user e.g. touches the screen to turn it on again, when should it be turned off?
was that implemented.?....I guess not.....probaly only way would be to take the panelDue 5V from the 'not standby' power supply that then can be switched off whilst the duet is still powered........

When you say "power down", what exactly do you mean?
Completely cutting the power from the panel would prevent the touch screen from functioning, so you wouldn't be able to use the panel to turn things back on again.
On the other hand, if you just want to turn the display part off, the dimming functionality recently added is probably very close to what you want. The LCD isn't actually turned off, but the backlight is dramatically lowered. (The backlight power is reduced to 1/8th of normal.)

I think he means dimming the backlight down to zero power. Then resuming back up when the screen is touched.
I do think the dimming part works well now but the option to dim down completely would still be nice.

Would an option to set the auto dim brightness to zero meet the requirement? Or do you want to turn the display off only when M81 is used?

I like the option to dim the brightness to zero myself. Since the rest of the printer is still running a simple touch of the screen will bring it back up.

well brightness to zero would suffice.
On my other printer, I have octoprint all the time on but the printer&display are off. I would like to have the duet on, so the web interface is available and I can upload files etc but I would like the display notto be on all the time
