E3D Roto & Toolboard
-
I am wiring up an IDEX with E3D Roto Extruders (Sensored) and the Duet Roto Toolboards. Specifically, I am attempting to wire up the filament sensor. E3D shows the wiring for the sensor to be a 4 prong plug and wires. While on the Duet Documentation, it shows a ribbon cable. I received the plug and wires version of the Roto Extruder. Does anybody have an image of how/where to connect the wires on the Duet Roto Toolboard? The Duet Documentation needs to be updated to reflect what is actually being sold please. This setup was supposed to be a bit more plug-n-play. TYIA for any help you can provide.

Can you share some photos of what you received?
Where did you purchase it? -
Purchased them from Filastruder at the same time as all the boards. Duet 3 Mini5, Paneldue 5i, 2 Roto Toolboards and 2 E3D Roto Extruders.

@SonnyD1 there are two products that are quite similar looking, the Roto Filament Sensor, and the Duet3D Roto Magnetic Filament Monitor. The first is a simple filament presence switch, with an ‘action’ button. The second is a filament monitor, checking for filament movement. I think you have the first type. See the E3D pin out on this page (under filament sensor wiring), and wire it to spare I/O pins on your Roto toolboard: https://e3d-online.com/pages/help-centre-roto

@droftarts Sorry but I may need a bit more. The Action button (green wire) has me stumped. The I/O pins on the toolboards are only 3 pin. The only two 4 pins are for BLTouch and Part cooling fan. Can I run the part cooling fan off of IO_1?

@SonnyD1 if you want to use the button as well as the filament sensor, you will need to connect it to a second IO_IN port.

@SonnyD1 you could use io2 instead of io3. Other than that you're correct

@jay_s_uk Yea I meant IO2. It just strikes me as weird hooking one device across two pin locations. I understand now. Thank you for your patience and clarification @dc42 , @droftarts , @jay_s_uk , and @Phaedrux for the help. Configuring it will be the next interesting endeavor. Still got some hardware work to do first.
