Recommendations needed on mounting extruder
-
I have been running a Cetus 3D MK2 on a Duet Maestro for several years now and it has been working great. Its come time to replace the extruder and hot-end. This is what it looks like (image take from the internet):
I plan to replace the extruder with an Orbiter 2.0 and the hot-end with a Revo Micro. The part I am trying to figure out is the mounting.
Are they any existing toolheads or mounts that I can use, modify or get inspired from to help with this replacement?

@skezo The Revo Micro mounts to a 12mm hole (see https://e3d-online.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/5895215280413-Revo-Micro-Datasheet), so I'd guess if you can drill out your existing mount (the part with the yellow sticker on) you should be able to mount it directly to that.
As far as I know, the Orbiter 2 doesn't come with any direct way of holding the nozzle, so I think you will need to print a small mount to go over the top nut of the Revo, and drill a couple of hole through the mount to hold the Orbiter on. There's a big selection of mounts on this page, under the '8. Adapters and mounts' section: https://orbiterprojects.com/orbiter-v2-0/ though I can't see one that's specific to the the Revo.
Well, that's how I'd do it!

@skezo Depending on the size of the linear rail you could look at a Voron toolhead.

@droftarts Thanks for the information! This is very helpful, I will see if I can reuse my current mount.

@skezo I'd also look at the Revo Voron - orbiter 2 is two 3mm screws, Revo Voron is four M3 screws - essentially you might only need a flat plate between them, with countersunk holes to take the hotend and make it either threaded (if it's a metal plate) or if printed embed some heat-set inserts to take the orbiter screws.
(I haven't checked it does all actually fit - threre might be a dimensional clash).

Just wanted to close off this thread. Thanks for all the help and suggestions. I ended up using a Revo Voron + Orbiter v2 and modified Mini-AfterSherpa toolhead. In its current setup it has reduced my print volume slightly but will modify more if I find i need more print area.
It is still a bit of mess re:wires but seems to print well.
