12V LED Strip of of Duet 2 Wifi

Re: How to use a LED Strip with Duet 2 WiFI and or Duex 5?
I think this is OK but would like to make sure before I ruin a board. I have some adjustable 24 v buck converters and a spool of 12V led strips.
my board is running 24V fans and I was thinking about connecting the led strips (using the buck converter set to convert 24V to 12V) off of one of the fan headers on my duex 5 board. Would this be OK to do? -
Yes this is possible. If you want to be able to power the strip off with your fan header, you would need to connect the 12v output of the buck converter to the strip and the negative side of the strip to the negative pin on the fan header as the fan headers are switched on the negative side. Power the buck converter itself directly from the PSU.

OK. Just to clarify positive and negative from the psu into the buck converter and the positive of the buck converter out to the led strip, the buck converter negative out is unused. The negative of the Fan header to the negative on the led strip and the fan header positive is unused. Correct?

Sounds correct.
Actually, if you're using a Duex5 why not use the 12v selector jumper and use that? Or perhaps you're already using 24v fans on the Duex?

@phaedrux Thanks, and yes I'm already using 24V fans on the Duex.

@alijambo73 recent versions of the DueX board have a separate 12V always-on (when the 12V regulator output is enabled) output.
