Drivers over temp, but sensors read 0

I experienced a weird error last night where the drivers skipped steps and then stopped, reporting they were over temp. I have a sensor mapped to the driver temperature and it was reading 0.
I shut down the machine for the night and came back in the morning and it was fine, but I am clueless as to what to do about this. It is the second time it's happened and I have active cooling to the backside of both my Duet Wifi and Duex5 boards.

Was the overheating driver on the Duet or on the DueX5?

That configures temperature monitoring for the drivers on the Duet, but not the drivers on the DueX. To monitor drivers on the DueX, create an additional temperature sensor with type name "drivers-duex".

@dc42 The console reported drivers 1 and 2 were over temp. Also, the board was misreading the X and Y axis to be homed, when the printhead was away from the home position

@tomasro An axis can be homed without touching the endstop!
homed means, that the axis was homed in the past... -
@cosmowave I must not have been clear: The end stop monitor showed that the x and y endstops were triggered, and yet the carriage was in the middle of the bed (nowhere near the endstops)
Also, the heater temperature went up to 2000C according to the thermister. It was a straight line up on the chart. And the filament sensor triggered, even though there was filament loaded

@tomasro Is the endstop triggered all the time? Or can you "untrigger" it when you press the endstop by hand?

@cosmowave No. It's not that the endstop gets inverted. It's like the board is gets glitched.
Would anyone recommend heatsinks on the back of the board?

Normally active cooling should be enough...

@tomasro 2000C on your thermistors indicates a short. I might be wrong, but wouldn't your endstops being triggered also imply a short, and same for the filament sensor?
The driver over temp warning might also be a red herring - I've seen that happen when I've shut off the 24V on my printer (whilst still keeping an external 5V supply so the processor and DWC stay up). I think the sudden voltage drop triggers something in the drivers/comms. So it could be a voltage/short issue causing it...I'd start checking some things in the wiring. Maybe try unplugging everything from the board and see what DWC reports? Also try (carefully!) measuring the 3.3v and 5v rails to check if they're okay and that the grounds are not floating etc.
Looking at your config, it seems these issues are across both the Duet and Duex?
Beyond those ideas, you might need @dc42 's help...
