Best probing speed for IR sensor?
-
Hi all,
I read many posts here, searching for the ultimate probe speed setting. But everyone uses F120 T6000 (coming from config tool?)
I'm probing at 100 points, twice per position. That takes a lot of time. I tried to reduce dive height too, but there is the risk of probe already triggered
Even on dc42s worldpress page I couldn't find a hint. -
@o_lampe if you use the probe in analog mode then there is a potential jitter of 1ms in the reading. So you should choose the probing speed to make the jitter acceptable. For example, if you choose 10mm/sec (F600 in the M558 command), then 1ms jitter equates to 1ms * 5 mm/sec = 0.01mm jitter in the measured height.
If you use it in digital mode instead then the jitter is reduced to 0.5ms and you can use faster speeds, e.g. 20mm/sec (F1200) for 0.01mm jitter in the result.

@dc42 That's more like it! I made a video of the whole homing and probing sequence: Eat this BLTouch

@o_lampe is that using the F407 or the super8?

@jay_s_uk It's the super8.
24000mm/s travel speed is not the end. Could go faster, but that's not the goal of the hashPrinter test rig.
