Loss use of z axis.
-
Hi first time post.
I have been using a duet 2 on an open build CNC router.
I have had this for a few years now and over that time I have had and fixed a few issue by trial and error and guidance from forums such as this.
But I'm really stuck on this one.
I have hunches as to what it may be maybe someone can confirm...The z axis started to play up by missing some steps and eventually juddering up down and in opposite directions as I was controling.
I have since tested all axis with home deactivated all but z worked.
I have now tested the actual Moto by swapping bthe connection from X axis to z motor.
This has confirmed that the Motor is in good working order..I have checked the duet board and all seems to look ok. No fuses blown or loose cables.
I'm now beginning to think it may be the board itself.
Is there anything else I can test to confirm this.
All help will be kindly received.
Thank you -

That's typically caused either by excessive friction of the axis; or binding (most common when there are multiple Z motors and they have got out of sync), or setting the Z acceleration (M201) or maximum speed (M203) too high.
It could also be caused by a bad connection between the stepper motor and the Duet, so that only one phase of the motor is being driven. If that's the case then you may get "phase may be disconnected" warnings from RRF.
