Large granite bed PID heater tuning (Beta tuning algorithm)
-
Hello,
I am making large 3D printer with granite buildplate, dimensions of plate is 1400x900x20 and I am using 4 x 1000W 240V silicone heaters.
Duet 3 board with latest beta firmware.When I try to do tuning it takes lot of time (hours) to cool of, and if I dont do the tuning procedure I get error that temperature is not rising fast enough. I tried lower temperatures with previus firmware. Currently I have set up tuning to 35C and it is runing for over an hour.
Is there a way aside of tuning to remove this error?

Just to confirm, you are using RRF3.2beta4?
Have you seen that there is a new tuning algorithm in use?

Given the huge thermal mass, PID is probably a waste of time. Have you tried just using bang-bang?

DC42 is wondering i you'd try running m303 tuning using 3.2beta4.1. It may be slow, but with luck not as slow as previous tuning algorithms.

Thanks everyone. Time of cooling was long after 4 hours it was done. But now i get error that i have too much power should I do same with lower power?
-
@Phaedrux Yes I used this one. It took 4 hours to complete but it was successful.

The warning about an overpowered heater is just letting you know that you should take precautions like a thermal fuse to cut power. Reducing PWM does not help in a out of control runaway heating scenario.

@Phaedrux Alright, thanks.
