Filament laser sensor shows too short movement in a minute.
-
Hello.
I am just trying to put a filament laser sensor.
I have got two questions.
While it's printing I sent M591 D0 and found that it shows
allow 10% to 120%, check every 3.0mm ....
brightness 90, shutter 17, measured min 6% avg 37% max 45% over 32mm.
So I can see it's working (not sure working correctly or not)
Question 1. Does this seem right ?But just after about a minute it stops with showing
"Too little movement" .
I am sure that the minimum amount was too small.
In the instruction it's written about calibration.
" Make sure you have calibrated your extruder steps/mm correctly"
Where do I calibrate this ?
Is this talking about "M92 X100.00 Y100.00 Z1600.00 E381.97:381.97" ?
If so, as the print result is good it seems ok.
But I wonder why the values showed were so small and possible to fix by calibration. -
What type of filament are you using, and which version of RepRapFirmware?
The laser sensor works better with some types of filament than others.
-
Have you done an extruder calibration like this?
https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Guide/Ender+3+Pro+and+Duet+Maestro+Guide+Part+4:+Calibration/40#s165
Might not be a bad idea to give it another try, but if your prints are looking ok that might not make a difference.
The type and color of filament you're using can have an effect due to the way the light passes through it rather than being blocked by it.
Having some more information about your setup may help. Firmware version, config file, extruder setup, where the sensor is installed?

@dc42 Hello.
The firmware is 2.03Beta3 and the filament is PLA.
When I modified to M591 D0 P5 C3 S1 R5:120 E6.0 NOT E3.0 it's got better.
But still showing very low Min...

@Phaedrux Thank you.
-
I suggest you upgrade your firmware to 2.05.1 because I'm not sure that 2.03beta even supports the more recent versions of the filament monitor.
-
Upload this complete zip file as is (don't extract it) to the system tab in DWC.

@dc42 Thank you.
I will do it tomorrow!
Best Regards -
@Phaedrux Oh How kind !

@dc42 Hello. I have updated the firmware and tried.
Unfortunately the result was the same.
Maybe because of the filament is dark blue ?
Maybe because the sensor has a dirt on it ?
If you have any idea, please help.
Best Regards -
@Hiroaki said in Filament laser sensor shows too short movement in a minute.:
Maybe because of the filament is dark blue ?
Maybe because the sensor has a dirt on it ?Yes, it's possible.
