Using ESP Wifi module with Duet 3 Mainboard
-
Is it possible to connect an ESP Wifi module to the Duet 3 Mainboard? I would like to find a way for using Duet 3 in standalone mode with Wifi.

To be very blunt: Why? Meaning, why not a Pi?

And, if you really don't want to run a Pi, purchase any one of a dozen "off-the-shelf" wired Ethernet to WiFi bridges. Many available under $25 USD
Both under $20:

Not without modifying the firmware. Our first Duet 3 prototypes had WiFi on board, so it's not impossible. You would have to connect the WiFi module pins to the RPi connector and to one of the UART-capable IO connectors. But much simpler to use a WiFi bridge.

@Danal I think that Pi has to much features for using it only for having a WiFi connection. But anyway the Pi Zero W is very cheap. Could it work with Duet3?

Holy cow that is expensive. You should be able to get the same result with a $20 device (IMHO). I did not go digging but it seems to me that in this current mess prices have gone sky high !

Which is why I linked to two devices that are $20 US, shipped. The cost of one or two spools of filament.
Also, the Duet community is very rapidly deploying things on the Pi that will never happen on the Duet itself. Example: Machine vision for tool alignment on multi-tool printers. Example: Scripts that capture photos are "trigger" moments like layer changes or pauses, and take pictures that are later assembled into a timelapse video.

No.
Zero is relic of the past. Way WAY too slow and memory limited. Please don't purchase a $200 printer controller to put in a $1000 printer and then cheap out on the last piece. And, it literally will not run Duet Software Framework in an acceptable fashion.
