Faulty SD Card Holder
-
Good afternoon!
This feels a bit unorthodox, but yes, I'm making a warranty request on a public forum.I received my brand-new Duet Maestro from Filastruder today, and upon powering it on, it gave a disappointing proclamation over the serial port:
Cannot initialize SD card 0: Card is unusable
This was with the SD card from Filastruder, so I tried swapping it with one of mine, and it gave the same error message. This is when I noticed that the holder fails to nicely grab and release the card, but feels "sticky," unlike my other Maestro. It also lacks the firm "Snap" noise.
It seems to me that the SD card holder is a problem, because the initialization attempts failed with all SD cards. I was able to successfully initialize an SD card plugged into my 12864 display, but I couldn't find a way to run the config files from there. Note, I had nothing but the USB cable connected for most of my testing.
@dc42, could you please tell me what you think and authorize my claim if necessary? Thanks a lot for your time!

I'm sorry that your Maestro appears to be faulty. I authorise a warranty replacement. See https://www.duet3d.com/warranty.

Hi,
My uSD card is quite difficult to access since my Kossel is in a chamber.
Have any of you tried a socket extension like this ?
What is the clock rate on a Duet2 ?
I’ve successfully used one on a RPi3B+ and it it worked Ok.
On a RPi4B overclocked at 2.0GHz it didn’t like it at all. -

You may want to start your own thread instead of posting in this.
Duet3d spescifically advice against using those.

The SD clock rate is 40MHz on the Duet WiFi/Ethernet and 30MHz on the Maestro.
