Power Supply Question

Hi, I currently using a 5/15/24V supply for my printer, I'm about to upgrade to the DuetWifi, am I ok to use the 24 for the bed supply, 15 for the board and 5 for the secondary 5V supply?

Yes you can do that. However, the Duet can provide its own 5V supply so you don't need to provide 5V unless it's standby power. You could run everything from 24V if you use 24V hot ends and 5V or 24V fans.

Thanks for your responses, I have now ordered the board. Could I extend the question slightly though.
I will be using Think3D supplied 0.9 deg motors for the X and Y, twin 1.8 deg 1.5A for the Z's and 1.8 deg 1.7A for Extruders. the PSU has 6A for each of the voltages. I don't really want to buy another just yet as its brand new.
I really only print in PLA or derivatives at the moment so am I better off connecting
5V to board 5V
15V to bed via a DC to DC
24V to boardor
5V to board 5V
24V to bed via a DC to DC
15V to board -
Probably the second. What voltage and power are the bed heater?

That's a very high resistance for a bed heater. I suggest you run the bed from 24V and the Duet from 15V.

Interesting, so your suggesting running the steppers off 15v would be better then the 24v ? Just curious.

No, 24V is fine for the steppers and will help maintain torque at high speeds. But your bed heater obviously needs 24V because of its high resistance. Also, unless you have 24V hot end heaters and fans, then you had better not feed more than 15V to VIN on the Duet. Even 15V is rather high for a 12V fan.

Personally I would buck that 15v down to 12v for the fans or better still just convert everything to 24v. Fan's are cheap as are heating elements.

Quite so, however if his 24V PSU is only rated at 6A of which the bed heater takes 4A, the remaining 2A isn't enough for the extruder heater, steppers and fans.
