V-Core Pro with Duet3

The last ten days I kept myself busy with a V-Core Pro Corexy kit. It sports a 750W AC heater, three independent z steppers, MGN15 linear rails, 9mm Gates belts, a Duet3 with a Raspberry Pi4, hall effect endstops, a polypropylene print plate, paracord-sleeved cabling, a 450W Meanwell PSU (overpowered without running a heater, but that hopefully means it will rarely switch on it's fans). Print volume is 300x300x300 -- but since I use integrated leadscrew steppers, Z is likely close to 330.

The kit is super chonky for lack of a better word. The belt runs are super clean and parallel to everything, and the belt tensioner is integrated in the X carriage requiring a single screw per belt to tension.

I am almost ready to do a first print, but am missing mounts for the endstops and Z calibration. After that, everything will be cleanup and incremental improvements.

And yes, I'd really like to replace the 13 cables going to the hotend with a CAN cable to a tool board. I am already considering using the expansion board to decouple duet3 location and print head.

I've never heard of a polypropylene build surface.

We expect to start shipping tool boards around the end of this coming week.

@Phaedrux the x/y steppers are .9° OMC steppers, e is a random pancake stepper I had lying around, z0,1,2 are E3D integrated leadscrew steppers.

@dc42 that's good news! Maybe not for my wallet ...

@Phaedrux A PP build surface is great for printing PP on it, because it sticks to itself very well. PP is the go-to Material for a lot of applications

@taconite @Phaedrux the PP plate I use is not pure PP, it's a fiber-pp compound made by Mamorubot. It's like the lovechild of glass (rigid and flat, but lighter) and PEI (adhesion at temp, release when cooled down). Works well with the mini IR probe too. PRI might be better for some applications but I am quite happy with the plate.

From your previous message I thought you might be about to purchase an expansion board, and of course a single tool board will cost less. That's why I wanted to alert you to the imminent availability of tool boards. Two tool boards will cost less than one expansion board, but three tool boards will cost more.

I already bought an expansion board though (-: it would help with cable management, but tool boards are much cleaner IMO.

Looks like a really well done printer. Also looks like they got all the CoreXY parts square and lined up and etc. (an amazing number of commercial printers don't).

@Danal yes they do, and only a small number of printed parts to boot. So far I would say they could improve by using shoulder bolts for the idlers, and toothed idlers for the idlers where the toothed sides of the belts run, but that's already a high level complaint.
