could the problem be because i am doing a test print with S3D and have set different profiles
to change the temp every 10 layers starting at high temp and dropping 5% till i hit 80 layers…
so it will have to cool between every 10 layers should i put a m116 for each profile?.

Oh, OK, thanks for clarifying.

I'm very happy with where this ended up - when the printer starts up it displays a message telling me to run the Delta_Start macro.

This sets the trigger (M581), checks which Smart Effector is installed, then homes the printer, runs delta config and then disables the trigger condition.

It works great and I won't get caught out with the Volcano installed and think I have the shorter v6!

You are right, it was a typo. Should be G29 S2.

There are a lot of users using PanelDue, so if this was a firmware issue then I would expect to have had a lot more reports of it. It might just be chance that the problems went away when you disconnected the PanelDue. Or it could be that your TFT panel is faulty, for example if the backlight inverter occasionally draws a high current pulse from the 5V supply then that could compromise power integrity.

Also please check that the S1 parameter is present in your M575 P1 command, or that you have no M575 P1 command at all in config.g. The S1 parameter enables checksums, to guard against corruption of the data sent by PanelDue to the Duet.

The funny thing is the hot end is staying on and the bed is turning off,,,

but they turn on an off to the correct commands

With this in my config.g: [c]M581 E1 T1 S0 C1 ; Filament run-out sensor triggers a pause[/c]
And this in my start gcode: [c]M582 T1 ; check if filament is present[/c]

So, if I would start a print without filament, it directly goes to pause. If the filament runs out during a print, it also pauses.

Yes, the one motor at a time will move in both directions.
1. I agree since both motors fired although from different controls.
2. Prior to switching to this configuration, each of these linear drives worked without obvious issues in a horizontal position (1 as X and the other as Y) and they were both working in the current Z configuration for a time. Moving them manually does not show overwhelming friction.
3. This would seem most likely. I will reduce both the max speed and acceleration for Z and see if that makes a difference. I believe that I also have room to increase the current, so that is another check I can do.

I like the idea of reducing the current to the heaters. The new configuration allows for a 300 x 300mm heat bed, so that an additional consideration to sway toward 24V

I do have a Z probe and getting double the drive voltage via the DueX2 along with automatic side to side bed leveling is an attractive incentive. I'll order the board.

Yes, the factory was supplying SD cards formatted to FAT32 with 4kb clusters. We have since changed to FAT16 with 64Kb clusters.

I am guessing that the -F 32 parameter in that command means FAT32, in which case you could use -F 16 instead.

Marlin compatible mode mostly only affects commands sent via USB or Telnet. There are no particular caveats.

When you press pause, macro file pause.g is executed. You can configure what it does in that file. If you raise the print head before doing the XY movement, it should remain clear of your print.

I optimized the file for the pause, in this case, Z5 is enough.

OK, I have cancel.g (executed when canceling via pause function) found, that is at least a small remedy. (Maybe something for you? @biscuitlad)

But I do not understand that, this detour over the pause function.
It is not necessary to press emergency stop in case of a dangerous situation, if it would be sufficient to run an abort frequency (for example only G28 Z + retract without X, Y axis movement) in order to avoid a bigger collision.

Was this changed recently, because I had read something similar in "upgrade notes"?

Sending M0 or M1 from a source other than the SD card no longer stops an SD card print that is not paused

Thanks for confirming. I intend to put a fix in the next firmware release, however it will have the side effect of not getting the full file information if it is taking too long.

The new batch of Duets going through manufacturing will have the SD card pre-formatted to 64kb clusters.

The U endstop switch must be connected to the E0 endstop input, and its position declared in the M574 command along with the others. Like other commands that use axis letters, the M574 command must come later in config.g than the M584 command that creates the additional axis or axes.

Why are you doing a manual calibration when the firmware has a much faster least squares auto calibration algorithm built in? See https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Calibrating_a_delta_printer. You can use it without a Z probe if you use P0 in your M558 command.

Yes, it's entirely possible that an electrical transient or EMI is putting the hardware in a state that is triggering the problem. One possibility is that it is affecting the I2C interface between the Duet and the DueX.

Is there a flyback diode in parallel with the relay coil, and a snubber network either in parallel with the solenoid or in parallel with the relay contacts?

No, I do not have one. I could switch it to an SSR if that would be better and not require extra hardware. Are there any off the shelf solutions for diodes/snubbers, preferably DIN rail mounted? That would be a good option, I just don't have time to make one from scratch.
