Anything that actually updates the printer, like babystepping, will get passed along. When I update babystepping in DWC, it shows up in PanelDue. And vice versa. Both of them "poll" the printer, so anything change from anywhere is going to show up within a second or two.

The movement or babystepping dialog settings, the value that each button has, those don't update the printer, so they will not pass along. And, as mentioned above, it would be quite challenging to have them passed.

Yes, an empty cancel.g should keep heaters on.

When I pause/cancel on my delta printer running RRF3, the heaters are left on. Here's the full contents of my cancel.g file (just a single comment):

Yes it is disconnected from the Duet, the only connection is the USB which I've tried in a USB 2 and USB 3 port.

Did you take it out of the housing? Perhaps the housing was pressing on the screen.

A few thoughts later: I could however just mount a 3.5" HDMI screen and drive it off a Raspberry/cheap Android Device and adjust the DWC for that resolution.. I'm a webdev after all..

Actually the DWC looks like it meets exactly my competence.. Vue.js + Vuetify.

it can be ordered with 6800 pin header or 8080 pin header, 3.3v or 5v, resistive or capacitive touch, pin header or FFd sd card interface

It is 3.3V TTL serial. And, yes, you can either figure out how to do checksums, or just turn them off (on the Duet side) and then enter pretty much any G, T, or M command you desire, and take any action on the response.

If you want the appearance of "real time" actions, you need to poll.

The option you want in the setup screen is Invert Display. Flips it upside down.

Thanks for the tip again, the boards are all back online, running 2.05, the web servers all up to date, and the displays also.
One good thing that came out of this, and the newer firmware on the controllers, is that my printers now stay on the IP address that I assigned them to, instead of ignoring the config.g specified IP address like they did under the older firmware.

Now I just need to get the other printers assembled and using the boards. Two spare boards is a bit of an embarrassment!

EDIT:
I have Firmware Version 1.17 on my PanelDue and will Upgrade to the latest. The macros are only supported from 1.20 in.
