@infiniteloop Agreed! Also I didn't intend to take over the thread, I just wanted to make sure that the OP didn't get the wrong (IMHO) idea about PETG.

I Fixed the Noise issue with the smart effector thanks to this:

I added a B1 to the M558 in the config.g. This turns off the heaters while probing. Now I can run the bed leveling as part of the print! I'm also playing around with the Z trigger. A -0.3 gets me a layer firmly attached to the bed. I'll measure when its done to see hoe close it is to the specified 0.2mm.

I also fixed the extruder slipping by turning up the current for the stepper.
